Holiday Suggestion To Suit 10 & 12yr olds
Posted by: Frosties - 11-06-17, 09:39 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Hiya fellas,

Bit of a weird request this one but need a few suggestions.

I fully appreciate I've left it a bit late so fully my fault.

Was looking to go to the Eurocamp at Peschiera del Garda on Lake Garda following rave reviews by friends but all sold out during school holidays.

Its the first time for the kids to holiday abroad so would like to get it as right as I can.

Ideally we would like

1. Europe
2. Beach
3. Lots of restaurants
4. Theme/water parks good
5. Ideally a brick lodge but could stretch to small complex villa.
6. Relaxing with enough activities

Don't want

1. Hotel
2. Tub thumping nightclub area
3. Over commercialised

Any suggestions as always much appreciated.

Cheers in advance fellas  :thumbup

Hello everyone
Just to introduce myself as a new member to the forum.
Been considering a Fazer for some weeks now after selling my Thruxton at the beginning of the year.
Last weekend, saw a new listing on eBay for a 2001 model in the right colour and was drawn by the very clean condition.
Listed by a dealer that had sold the bike from new, then to its second owner after it was traded in the first time amd carried out most of the maintenance for both riders.
Rang up and did the deal and then my son drove me the 150 miles to Wales so that I could ride it home.
Very pleased with the bike so far. Love the practicality of the older Jap bikes after owning a Ninja 600 and an SV650 in recent years. Nice to have a bike that the owners manual and design encourages you to work on and maintain!
Forks were the worst part of the bike as they were suffering from lacquer corrosion so I set to and after rubbing them down with wire wool, rattle canned them with primer, silver wheel gloss and lacquer from Halfords. Really pleased with the result.
New tyres already on the bike and as the front brake pistons were a bit gummed up I've stripped and cleaned everything as a precaution.

  HELP! EXUP Nightmare
Posted by: roxburd - 11-06-17, 10:35 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Hey all,

I decided to service the EXUP yesterday and discovered that one of the bolts securing the cable bracket was sheared off - that'll be why the cables were loose then!

I knew the sheared bolt was a show-stopper but I thought I'd press on and see if I could do the service, reassemble and then decide what to do about it. But despite plenty of care and penetrating oil, one of the other bolts also sheared and the last one's allen head rounded out. So I now have the top two sheared off and the bottom one siezed in place without any purchase for turning it.

It's a thousand - 2001 model with 37k miles.

So it looks to me like the whole exhaust has to come out in order to drill out the bolts... and that probably means more sheared header bolts.

And I don't have a great history with drilling bolts out, myself.

So I'm planning on calling my local mechanic and asking what the damage will be if I drop it off to him unless I get any other suggestions.

For riding it down to him, I was hoping to pull the fuse out to disable the EXUP servo but it doesn't seem to have a dedicated fuse. So I guess I'll just make sure the cables wont fall out and leave it running but disconnected. And the valve held closed.

Grrrr. Any ideas, suggestions, gotchas, advice or estimates of what the mechanic will charge much appreciated!

  Gen 2 generators
Posted by: daveclark - 11-06-17, 09:47 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

Well just been reading on FZ1 owners on Facebook that the generators can disintegrate? He's put pics on and it doesn't look good can be a new engine with the fragments getting in the gear box?! Anyone heard of it on here, he does state that 2010 versions have the modified generator which doesn't disintegrate.????

? Don't want that going at speed!

Hi fellas,

I've been looking for a picture the clearly shows the drain screw but the diagrams I have found are confusing. Has anyone got a photo of it that they could mark the location on for me?

Thanks

  British and Irish Lions 2017

So the election is over, for better or for worse..

Now the Lions is hotting up, won't mention the latest result in case people don't know the score yet.

This is for those of us who enjoy the great game of rugby.

Test spots are tough to call but the lack of creativity and tries must be a worry and now addressed.
