High speed weave ktec springs and 10w oil
Posted by: Covertlaugh - 07-06-17, 11:09 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (20)

Hi all,
I have recently had my fzs1000 forks upgraded with ktec springs for my weight and 10w oil as recommended by ktec. Generally the ride quality is improved. The bike also has r6 Shock conversion and 10mm forks through yolks. Tyres are Dunlop Roadsmart 3's. The bike has developed a high speed weave which can be experienced in the higher part of the Rev range at the silly end of the speedo but when short shifting behaves normally. The bars  begin to weave side to side steadily increasing until I think a tank slapper is next. Worrying! Tyres are new, no apparent play in swing arm, head stock or wheel bearings, wheels balanced and in line, tyre pressures correct. I set the sag when I put the forks back in the bike. Now showing 2 and half rings preload. Compression not far off standard and rebound a little softer. I am 14 stone in kit. Any suggestions? Anyone experienced similar? I am assuming I don't quite have the suspension quite right as yet. Anyone similar weight with same fork springs and a set up? Thanks

  Oil warning light
Posted by: Grant1Shepherd - 07-06-17, 10:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

Hi guys

A couple months ago on my way back to London from Ireland my oil warning light came on for a split second when I changed gear at high RPM, this was no bother as I just pulled over, noticed my Oil level was a little lower than normal and topped it up. As soon as I got back to London I did an Oil and filter change, a few days later I was then changing gear again and the light came on for another split second (good thing my eyes keep catching it :lol ). I checked the oil level later that day and noticed I didn't put as much oil as allowed in when I did the change, Oil was about a quarter way up the glass so I topped it up with a little dash of the same oil from the change.

Tonight I was riding home from the Bike Shed and there was a moment where I gave it a few decent high revs (7-9K RPM) in 2nd gear and the light came on again for another tiny second but as soon as I ease off the throttle it went off, I spent the rest of the journey home trying to get the light to come on again to work out what is happening but I couldn't do it, which has left me confused.

Why does the Oil light occasionally just come on for a split second when either changing gears at high RPM or riding in high RPM's?

Hope someone can help me out.

Thanks guys Smile

Prospective New Fazer Owner From Glasgow
Posted by: Kruegerfan07 - 07-06-17, 02:45 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (1)

Hi Folks

Found the forum looking through Google. Currently on a CBT riding a 15 plate Lexmoto Vixen. Just passed my MOD 1 on Monday and will hopefully be going through MOD 2 at the end of the month.

Found a lovely 1999 plate Fazer at my local dealership with only 21000 miles on the clock. Looks great, no blemishes, plastics look good, almost a year MOT on it and it's going for £1400.

I'd just like to get to know a bit about the bike before I buy. Hopefully I'll find some good information here.

Thanks in advance for answering any stupid questions I might ask along my journey  Smile

Getting the most out of my Fazer
Posted by: kgjersda - 06-06-17, 11:34 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (20)

So I'm planning on buying myself a new bike in a couple of years, but I have to save up some money first.
Meanwhile I want to get the most out of my Fazer since I'll be driving it a lot more.

I'm doing the routine maintenance as I should.
I have also upgraded the lights and the rear brake.

Trying to figure out a saving plan while keeping my chin up and having fun with the Fazer.

What other things can I do to improve the ride from cheap to expensive?

  Start delay
Posted by: jackomet - 05-06-17, 04:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (28)

Just got a 2002 Fazer, everything fine but I have to wait a minute or so before the I can start it.  Battery tested OK and no problems when it starts, runs great.  Stop it and then it starts straight away?
Any ideas?
JK
