output shaft viable repair ???
Posted by: Disorderlypunk - 21-06-17, 10:06 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

could do with an engineer to double check this out and let everyone know before this is tried was just an idea and i know there are some amazing lathe machinists out there
i keep reading about output shafts being stripped and i cringe when i hear the sprockets have been welded on (yeah it works but)
i will be stripping my engine down before long and i know my output shaft has seen better days so was wondering if it was viable to sleeve the threaded shaft after turning it down and having that re threaded
obviously there is litle rotational stress in that area so i thought by making the sleeve a little bit smaller and using heat and compresssion to get as much friction between the two and even welding through holes to add more joint strength just incase
then turning it down and re threading again
-what do you guys think cause there are only so many of these used output shafts around.

  DIY Wheel Balancing
Posted by: dickturpin - 21-06-17, 07:12 AM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Anyone tried balancing their wheels at home? Was it a success or a waste of time?
I don't have a static balancing machine but videos on YouTube suggest it can be done without one so I am interested to try it....unless the experience on here suggests otherwise.

  Question about the radiator fan
Posted by: carcrusher - 20-06-17, 12:03 PM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (3)

I went to a shop this morning to talk to someone there about another problem I'm having and one of the guys mentioned that when I turned the ignition on the temp display said High but the fan didn't start working. So my question is, since I can't seem to find this info in the service/owner's manual, when does the fan exactly kick in?

Dunno what happened beforehand.......but the biker was being a dick and paid the price, in my opinion.

Power Commander, ECU remap or 2010 onwards bike
Posted by: Jim44 - 19-06-17, 04:20 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

I am looking to buy an FZ1 Fazer, 08 onwards, to replace my well served ZX9R which I had for 12 yrs.
I have read reviews and it appears there was a fuelling issue which may have improved on 2010 models. Is this the case? Would a pre 2010 model with a Power commander or ECU remap be better or is the 2010 version onwards  OK?
I have contacted Yamaha UK who were not very helpful and would not pass on information of the engine serial number onwards which would have had an official remap. I don’t want to get a late registered model which does not have the official remap.
Any help would be appreciated.
With thanks,
