Got him a GS500F Suzuki about 4 years ago, '07 plate, bang on the A2 licence restriction.
My lad's 25 and he passed the last bits of the A2 'jumping through hoops' test before winter set in.
He went out last month and tested a new Africa Twin and an MT09 - he loved them both, but not the monthly payments nor the insurance quotes, nor the likely depreciation and obligatory service costs.
So he started looking at 'older' bikes, VFR800 and XJR1300's.
No real depreciation, no monthly payments and cheap insurance.
His mates at work told him the XJR13 was a pig on stilts, so he started thinking Bandits......Nooooo!!!
Just done a deal for him on a '54 plate Gen 1, 6k miles, 1 owner, standard and still on Metz4 hoops :eek
He'll only use it for fun and best yet, only £200 insurance fully comp.
It'll be 15 years old next year and eligible for even cheaper insurance deals for him.
Future classic bike - oh Yeah!
Sure he'll be on here soon too, give him a nice welcome won't you?
Nice to be back.

Spring is here, the deer are back in the garden scrounging, the air is filled with the sound of baby spadgers squawking for their grub and now the snow has buggered off it was time for my first ride of the year, with my MOT up next week.
Have to say, I had been dreading it (due to age and infirmity taking a grip over winter - the first winter that I didn't even sit on my bike, let alone move it) but once I got over the shock of the freezing tank on my knackers, that huge grin reappeared. It's funny, I keep pondering selling the Fazer, due to aforementioned age and condition (mine, not the bike...) but every time I go for a buzz I just wonder how I could be so stupid as to even consider it.
It's the only bike I've had, where I haven't been wondering how any other bike would be, or yearning after some younger, sexier bit of kit - because there isn't anything sexier than Felicity (my Fazer....). If you ever played Elite: Dangerous (I play it in Virtual Reality and it is gobsmacking) you will know Felicity Farseer, the engineering expert for engines, powerplants and frameshift drives (for warp jumps). Very suitable, I thought.
Unfortunately, there was still a lot of sludge and salt around the roads and the traffic was spraying it all over Felicity - so a very enjoyable ride ended with a back-aching scrub and polish.
This machine is 14 years old - 14! Yet not a single hiccup, from twist of the key to jacking the stand. Yeah, I'm definitely in love all over again.
I wish you all a very happy year on your Fazers - it's time to start your engines

Separating the headlight unit halves |

Does anyone know how to split the headlight open without damaging it?
I bought one off eBay cheaply to be fair (was also advertised on here) with a stated broken fairing mount lug but the seller must not have checked under the rubber bulb seals as the reflector/shield on the near side light is broken and flapping about only held in place with some wire. I bought it as the front lense on mine is heat damaged from having electrical tape stuck to it to pass an MOT as it was wired up wrong, no longer thanks to the headlight mod post on here! So I want to swap the good lense from the eBay unit with the good back housing of mine but as well as the tap/clips holding the two together it appears to be glued or have a sealant which I guess makes sense... got me a bit stuck at the mo

Radiator size |

Hi All,
I've got a radiator cover that I thought would fit my FZS600, but it doesn't. I'm trying to work out what Fazer it's for, apparently it doesn't fit the Thou or the 8 so I'm hoping it's for the FZ6.
Could someone measure their radiator and in particular the distance between the 2 screws on the guard on either side?
Cheers

Problem after rebuild, clicking fuel pump? |

It’s a 2003 fazer 600 I stripped it for painting and I’m now in the process of putting it back together, but one of the exhaust header studs has stripped and can’t get a stud extractor on it because it’s too tight a gap.... but the main issue is
When I turn the ignition on there’s a clicking coming from the fuel pump area.... it stops after a few seconds if I then fire the bike up it carries on clicking the whole time the bike is running, none of this was happening before I stripped it ? any help would be massively appreciated
