Anyone had an HJC IS-16 and IS-17?
Posted by: Pal - 27-03-18, 01:24 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

I'm thinking of swapping my aging IS-16 for an IS-17, and wanted to see if anyone has had both and what they thought about them

Very pleased on the whole with the IS-16 especially the quick detach visor and the internal sun shade. Vents are good and visibility is good as well. It's comfortable but quite noisy.

Is the IS-17 quieter?

  Hello and an alarm question
Posted by: PeeBee - 26-03-18, 09:25 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

I have recently purchased a 2005 FZS1000 in lovely condition, with quite a bit of work done to it - suspension, Ivans etc. However, it has a Meta 357T v2 fitted.

I've had problems with these alarms on other bikes and, seeing as it only had one fob and no red card with it, I thought that I would remove it.

Removed the unit and started removing the alarm loom; re-joined the rear indicator cables and was left with three connections with two wires each into blocks on the left side of the bike. There is a black 4 pin block and a white 4 pin block and a white 3 pin block. The 3 pin was providing the feed and an earth to the alarm unit, so I removed the connections. I am assuming that the black and white blocks are part of the original Yamaha loom. By linking the two wires within each of the 4 pin blocks, the bike functions.. I am led to believe that Yamaha fitted loop plugs to these blocks, which were removed when alarms were fitted. Can anyone confirm this.

  Noisy speed sensor??
Posted by: Geedog - 26-03-18, 08:19 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (29)

Can anyone shed any light on an issue..?
At around 35-40 mph I’m getting a whistling sound from the front end of my 2003 FZS600, I thought it might be something stuck in the fairing so investigated that and came up with nothing.
I took off the brake calipers and spun the wheel with drill and found the sound coming from it appeared to be the sensor area or bearings.
Took off the wheel and the bearings were very stiff, unable to turn with fingers. Started process of removing them and once slightly loosened off the spacer bar have freed up considerably so not sure its anything to do with them...
The moving part of the speed sensor is a little slack - is there supposed to be any movement..? ( other than spinning..!)

Any help appreciated
Az

  Gender discrimination
Posted by: BBROWN1664 - 26-03-18, 12:16 PM - Forum: General - Replies (60)

The company I work for, in my view, seems to have a disproportionate number of females in top jobs when compared to the rank and file people proportion. According to the link below they also appear to earn less than their male equivalents. Are they equivalent though? Do they have comparable skills (probably) and experience (may not be quite as much)? Why do I think this? Because it always seems to be a case of positive discrimination when jobs are advertised. Less experienced, but female, candidates get the job ahead of their male opponents in the job contest.

Now, with the information being published, I guess the next big thing will be another year or three of no pay rises for men whilst the women get a pay rise just to bring them in line with the mens salaries. :evil

  Embarassing foc up
Posted by: slappy - 25-03-18, 08:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Okay so bought a MT09 and very happy with it but I have made a bit of a cock up.
I have managed to jam the seat, I have removed it once before when I checked the bike over and I think I did not locate it correctly when putting it back on.  :o .    I turn the key and lift and pull backwards like you are meant to but it only moves about 5mm then it is solid.
I have tried thumping it and wiggling a piece of metal rod about underneath the gap in vain hope but the bugger is stuck.
Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

I have tried to post this on the MT09 forum but even though I am a member when I try to post on the forum it just keeps telling me I have not done the image capture correctly, after 5 goes I gave up

  Owners handbooks.
Posted by: Decoke Dave - 25-03-18, 08:01 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

Why does there seem to be two Yamaha owners handbooks for the Fazer Fzs1000? The book i got with my bike (2004) has a part number prefix, 1C2, but there seems to be one with the prefix 5LV which seems to have  more pages. ( There is a 5LV prefix one on the bay now which is said to cover all the Fzs1000 models 2001-5) I'm sure there is a simple explanation for this which you learned guys will know.
SORRY, JUST REALIZED I HAVE STUCK THIS IN THE WRONG SECTION! :o  Could someone in authority move it for me please.  Thank you.

WTD - Centre stand and ignition barrel + key for fzs 1000
Posted by: Yam - 24-03-18, 10:15 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

As above I'm after a centre stand with the required spring and bolts to fit a gen 1 thou '02. I also require an ignition barrel as mine is too worn to reliable anymore, I would take just the ignition but I wouldn't say know to a complete matching lock set.
