Posted by: Billy Balthorpe - 10-04-18, 12:43 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Has anyone got one they don't need anymore? This is for my mate, I'm swapping the screen off my Fazer before he takes ownership of it for the small one on my new bike.

  Sloppy throttle response.
Posted by: Ergzzz - 09-04-18, 02:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hello All,

I own a 1998 Fazer 600, before I owned it it was looked after and was in a very shiny condition but hardly ever used, i have had the carbs out and cleaned and done a compression test but the throttle is really slow to respond, any advice on what i could do to improve the throttle response? I was thinking new jets but I dont want it to drink fuel.

All advice is appreciated.

Thanks FOCers. xx

Hi All,

I have a Fazer 600 but have acquired some Fazer 1000 fairing and would just like some affirmation as to which generation its from, my guess is Gen 1. Thanks all you FOCers.

  I am an idiot.........

Oh dear, why do I never learn?!!!  :rolleyes

When I fitted my white dial faces did I read the instructions on the mods. & jobs web link?............
No!
Of course I didn't....I'm a bloke, therefore I do not read instructions, I simply steam in like a moron & realise the error of my ways 1/2 way thru the job!  :eek
I now have an inaccurate fuel gauge & a speedo which is also somewhat awry!
BUT....at least I can read them a treat!Wink :rollin
Now I think I will have to take it all apart again, remove the clear lenses & refit to the bike. That way I can test & reset the needles on the shafts as I go!
Will I ever learn?.......Probably not!

Anyone got a steel set they don't need anymore?

Ive parked the bikes side by side and there is no difference in height. So i'll keep the ones I have.

Thanks for the offer.

  Fairing for 2003 fazer
Posted by: Paclampet - 08-04-18, 09:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

Hi all  Big Grin
Anyone know of the best place to source a (red) nose fairing for my 2003 Fazer?
Ebay reveals little more than a few knackered and tatty examples or the odd replica (from Poland I think - any good?) which would need spraying.
Mine has sustained a crack around the offside indicator; a result of a "clumsy moment". Only about 2 inches but deeply irritating.
How easy or practical is a professional repair? I have fabricated something using Araldite plastic weld and touch up paint which is holding up ok but its a bit like having a nice shirt with a stain on!
Ive been told the fairing can be repaired but the whole thing would need respraying as well as new decals - a royal pain in the derrière!!

Yours hopefully

Cheers
Richard

  Crankcase cover starter clutch bearings
Posted by: Grant1Shepherd - 08-04-18, 05:28 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

Hi all

Recently I unfortunately came off my bike and damaged the crankcase cover (not enough to not be able to ride the bike) so I brought a new crankcase cover however it didn't come with the bearings (Attached photo highlights where the bearing is supposed to be in the crankcase cover) I can't take the current crankcase cover off and get the old bearing out as it isn't possible without further damaging the cover, nor can I just go to a bearing shop and ask them to make the bearings as I do not know the measurements.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of this bearing for the crankcase cover? or does anyone know the measurements or what I would have to tell a bearing shop to make?

The bike is going in for repair soon so I really need to hurry up and get hold of this part.

Thanks in advance

  Track FZS600
Posted by: more11o - 08-04-18, 01:10 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

Hello all,

I have decided to convert my boxeye fzs600 into a dedicated track bike. She was originally purchased as my first bike but as all first bikes do eventually found herself sliding down the road.
Ever since she had been sat in my garage having replaced her after the 'fall'. I discovered the track last year and after a few trackdays had visions of doing the same again on my shiny road bike and thought i'd put the old girl to good use.
She's almost completely standard; she has upgraded front pads, Black Widow downpipes and a Renthal bar. Despite this i still managed a fairly consistent ~2:05 around Cadwell on the 5th.
Over the winter a friend stripped her down including the engine, replaced the head and made sure she wouldn't go pop on her first outing. As you will see below there's already been some bodywork stripping too.
The idea behind this is that if i can learn to be quick on a bike like this then i can be quick on whatever will replace her when she dies as well as all my track craft.

Planned upgrades are:

  • Replace the bar with clip ons
  • R6 front radial brake master cylinder
  • Braided brake lines
  • Linear fork springs & 15w oil
  • Upgraded rear shock spring / new monoshock
  • Adjust the footpegs without spending £300 on rearsets ( already grounding the pegs)
  • Pod filters and jets
  • Replace the standard exhaust can
  • Any weight savings as and when
  • Magically easy way of fitting a 180 rear (please?)
  • Replace the clocks with just a tachometer and oil + neutral lights
I'm not looking to spend a fortune, just to make her better for the track. She wont see the road again, just lots of tracktime.
Any advice is always welcome. I have been looking around here for the past month taking in advice but i thought it was time to document the upcoming changes to the the bike and to get advice that doesn't have to include how something performs on our bumpy roads and being comfortable whilst doing it.

Looking for an 04 Gen 1 Thou centre stand
Posted by: Brixmis - 08-04-18, 10:33 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Passed MOT with flying colours, but tester noticed a crack in my centrestand at the lower brace joint. It's only a small crack on a bit of a rusty spot and could be welded up - but I'd prefer to fit one in better nick.

I blame the shorter dog bones...

I'm in S Lincs, but can arrange collection as ness.

Chars.
