This year see's the 10th anniversary of my father's passing away, after living with (rather than "dying from") terminal cancer and being cared for by the fantastic Macmillan Cancer Nurses. Since then, my wife has also lost her father to cancer and we have seen many people that we know across the range of our contacts and lives, being impacted by the loss of someone close, to cancer.More recently, both of our mother's have been suffering with Dementia/Alzheimer's, such that they both need 24 hr care and since experiencing this ourselves, we have become acutely aware of the growing scale of this problem. The Alzheimer's Society provide support and research in the care and treatment of those who suffer and they need our help !Since 2008, Liz and I have organised a fully supported, annual 150 mile Cycle Challenge Ride, engaging over 250 riders to take part (and complete) and have so far raised well over £25,000 for these fantastic charities. As this year is the final time that we will be running this event, I thought I'd make a final plea to our fellow Fazer lovers, for your continued help and assistance in raising as much as we can to help, by simply making a donation in support of our efforts, however small or large (anything is greatly appreciated) - using the Just Giving sponsorship links below. So - many thanks for your previous, and current help and please Ride Safe and Live Long.Just Giving Link to sponsor our group and raise funds for the Alzheimer's Societyhttps://www.justgiving.com/fundraisi...nd-liz-welburnJust Giving Link to sponsor our group and raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Supporthttps://www.justgiving.com/fundraisi...burn-macmillan
I think this is a case of the clutch basket fingers needing filling, but in case it isn't I wanted to check here here for suggestions...
I have to have the clutch lever set so that it has next to no free play, having the default 3mm results in very hard to change gears on a semi regular basis. I notice that mostly when I am coming up to a set of lights..
And if it is the old "grooves in the basket" issue, is there a quick and clean way to do this with the backet still on the engine (as in with all the plates & hub removed) and all the spaces around the basket filled with rags to keep the metal fillings out.
or
Is there a 3rd party replacement for the clutch assy that dosen't cost a fortune..?
Back in December i picked up a low mileage, dark red 2001 fzs1000. Its in okay shape although engine paint is flaking (as usual).
Initially i found the hand position was uncomfortable so ive fitted a set of 758's and dropped the forks 10mm. Still a bit high and ive just bought but not fitted GYTR risers.
Not really used it much though tbh... Currently considering an r6 rear shock and ivanising...
Anyway, im based in north Bristol so may see some of you about.
Otherwise, Hello (and thanks for all the information so far!!)
Hi,
Trying to remove a rusted in fork seals....
Removed top cap drained oil and took out spring and washers inc spacer.
Now dust seal was difficult to get out then the space behind was full or road salt.
The spring clip was rusted in and snapped in two places getting it out.
cleaned up the area and now trying to remove the fork seal with the sliding method... Will not budge.
Not removed the hex bolt from the bottom as just doing a fork seal and oil replacement.
The oil seal just does not want to move.
I even clamped the lower into the workbench so I could really give it some.
But it will not shift.
Any help would be appreciated. I have the 2nd fork to do and that is no better under the dust seal so expecting the same issue.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? problem with the bike misfiring, so looking to change the plugs and leads. 2004 bike still on original set up so a change might sort the problem, checked coils and resistance is fine.
hi guys i recently did my carb balance and noticed after it got warm idle was a little off so i turn idle screw it to keep it at 1100rpm on thing is the idle screw wont turn any further will i have to turn back the screw and rebalance to its origanl setting the carb is balanced properly but it was only ticking over on 1000 -1100 rpm should i set the idle screw back to factory turns and retry balance??
Good evening foccers!
About to give the Fazer a bit of a makeover, since it's still not running 100% (has a cutoff at around 7-8k rpm, then pulls as normal). Have already cut some off the leads and changed to the NGK caps which fixed most of it, will send it for a service and figured I might as well get a KN filter or similar. As the tank is coming off, figured I'd have the carbs refurbished as well as replace the Regulator. I'm presuming switching to different jets is recommended with more air flow, and it already has a Mivv pipe on it. Got tips on what jets to get?
Chain and sprockets are getting swapped, I've seen the cheaper kits with DID chains from about €90 (530 dimension), or the more expensive Renthal for almost twice. I ride on Malta, where the roads range from abysmal to just horrible so the suspension takes a beating, chain as well. Anyone tried the various kits available online and have recommendations?
Brakes will need some TLC too, from the clues (stripped head on the reservoir and really funky braking at times) brake fluid and bleeding is long overdue. I don't ride in the rain and i saw some thread here (which I can't find now) about how there's a kind of pad that works well for those conditions? After a search, seems I might have to swap the front bearing too.
... buy a cheap bike just for daily use, wont have to spend much money on it and upgrade later. Anyone else had that same thought, but then just loved the Fazer?
