  Airbox MOD Idea
Posted by: Sidewinder - 08-07-18, 04:20 PM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

Hi guys have been sorting my old gal out today, recharged my K&N filter, cleaned crankcase breather, I even found a filter on my airbox breather pipe I never knew about so yep, I even cleaned that too! whilst cleaning the plugs I started thinking.. hmmm how could I get more air to the box cos the intake opening faces backwards?
I've had a look on the links and the comments on the site but not much really in the way of ideas so..
I was wondering how about some kind of ram air system? I was thinking I could place a cover or 'scoop' looking shroud over the air intake entrance, like I said due to the fact it faces backwards maybe lead a hose to the front of the bike with another scoop facing front collecting shed loads of air when going forward.
What's your thoughts on would it work, I would love to know if it would be of any benefit from all you mechanical minded people out there.
Cheers in advance for your thoughts

  Numpty exup question..
Posted by: steeeve66 - 08-07-18, 10:21 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Took exup cables off bike as part of a major re-furb... Thinking I'd remember where everything went when I put it back together...

Does the 'silver' cable at the top of the pulley on the exhaust go to the top of the servo motor wheel?

That's right isn't it? The 'black' cable at the bottom of the pulley routes to the bottom of the servo wheel...?

And... When the switch the ignition on should the servo go through a push and pull cycle? Mine seems only to pull the top ('silver') cable - there's no 7k error on the clocks..

And can someone tell me why, after 10 years of ownership, I seem to have forgotten all this... Haahaa!

Cheers,
Steve

  WP51 SWY 10 years gone
Posted by: BMCfaz - 07-07-18, 10:36 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

10 years ago tomorrow I PX'd my Fazer 600 against a CB1000R, something I've regreted ever since!

The Honda lasted 3 years before it was exchanged for a Fazer 1000 which I've still got, the longest I've ever kept a bike, taking over from the 600.

I'd love to know what's happened to my old 600, it looks like it's been on SORN since last summer, anyone on here got it?

Can't wait for the England game. Bikes fuelled up, tyres checked, oil checked, 2/3 hours empty roads aaaaaahhhhh bliss, won't see a kick of the ball or a penalty taken or many cages trying to make scrap out of my bike and me.

  Fuel pump noise
Posted by: adasilva - 05-07-18, 08:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hey guys.
Strange issue here today. I was out on holidays for a couple weeks and my bike was idle during this time. Before i went on holidays my rad was leaking so i removed the radiator and prepared the bike for the new one that i ordered.
Today i managed to get the new radiator on the bike. But when i tried to start the bike it would not start. Even with the choke on.
I managed to get the bike started, but noticed that the fuel pump was priming even with the bike running.
Eventually it died. after that it starts but after a few minutes it dies.
Please note that i have just recently service the bike  -  clean the carbs, sync it, change the HT leads and plugs, oil, filter, air filter etc.

Not sure if this is related to the replacement of the radiator. I would not think so.

Thanks for your help

  Fazer 1000 to FZ6
Posted by: Dea-ville - 05-07-18, 07:57 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Hi all, who on here has gone from a gen 1 thou to the FZ6? happy with the switch? reasons for & against. No plans to swap my thou any time soon as i'm still fettling & buying shite for it but every now & then i do like to swap for a 600.

Don't want to cause any friction but is there a specific model FZ6 that is considered the best one to get. Cheers, D.
