  A debate section
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 16-03-19, 10:28 PM - Forum: Your Suggestions and How you can help - Replies (24)

I'm thinking it might be wise for the admin to add a section for these debate type threads that keep cropping up. They are starting to take over slightly and the actual bike elements of the forum are getting lost amoung them.
At least if they are all together in one place then people know exactly what to expect in that particular section of the forum.
I personally don't bother with then as I feel they are more a ground for argument then actual sensible debate but there is no denying they can turn into a bit topic so there needs to be a place for them

Also I honestly think they need moderating as the insults are starting to lean towards personal attack.
There is no problem 'debating' a subject but once it comes to personal jibes I think that's going slightly too far.
At the end of the day we are all here for the things we have in common not our political views, we need to make sure it stays friendly ??

  Christchurch
Posted by: VNA - 16-03-19, 12:20 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Just yesterday 49 people in Christchurch lost their lives to a hateful white supremacist.  Brenton Tarrant spoke of “invaders” and that “they will never replace our people”

Donald Trump’s banal response was extending his “thoughts and prayers”.  Something the Republicans and their NRA backers do a lot of these days – 56 mass shootings in the USA so far this year.

So who is to blame?  I say anyone who promotes a them and us narrative, not just Stephen Christopher Yaxley or Theresa May with her Go Home vans and hostile environment or Donald Trump hailed by the shooter as a symbol of “renewed white identity and common purpose”

Queensland senator Fraser Anning blames the Muslims for their own slaughter “Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?” he stated.

So there you have it whether the terrorist is white or brown, you can blame the Muslims.

So I post this to remember the 49 dead in Christchurch, innocent people worshiping in their Mosque.  But in remembering we must ask why.  We can say never again, but there is little point unless we are all prepared to call out and condemn extremism.

  Clutch Action
Posted by: Timbo - 15-03-19, 05:23 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hi all

My son has just brought a 09 plate FZ1 and I have seen it today for the 1st time. 10k miles and very clean

The clutch action seems heavy and a bit sticky at the lever. Is that the norm or is there something amiss perhaps. I can't comment yet how it rides but will tomorrow!! (if he lets me have a go)

  Worn out battery...
Posted by: Fazerider - 15-03-19, 12:16 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

The bike’s been off the road now since November… the first winter it’s ever had without being used. Hadn’t planned it this way, lack of spare time has delayed engine replacement and always hoping I’d find the time meant I’d left the battery in it.
Retrieved it this morning and was surprised to find it still registered 12V and, given a boost, will doubtless turn an engine over as willingly as ever. Those original GS units were damn fine batteries.

Sadly it may need replacing soon, the jolting from 200k of crappy roads has worn through the casing and it’s starting to leak nasties. I’ll try to patch it: obviously want to keep what is probably the world’s highest mileage FZS600 battery going a bit longer :rollin but the end is in sight.

I do a lot of work on my missus family home for her brother who works away in Canada, and keep a youtube video log for him so he can see how its going. looking back through some old ones I found a clip of my old mt-01, which I used to demonstrate how big the base was for the workshop I was building for him at the time. wish I hadnt watched it, I really miss that bike now, it was a lovely old thing.
