A debate section - Dudeofrude - 16-03-19

I'm thinking it might be wise for the admin to add a section for these debate type threads that keep cropping up. They are starting to take over slightly and the actual bike elements of the forum are getting lost amoung them.
At least if they are all together in one place then people know exactly what to expect in that particular section of the forum.
I personally don't bother with then as I feel they are more a ground for argument then actual sensible debate but there is no denying they can turn into a bit topic so there needs to be a place for them

Also I honestly think they need moderating as the insults are starting to lean towards personal attack.
There is no problem 'debating' a subject but once it comes to personal jibes I think that's going slightly too far.
At the end of the day we are all here for the things we have in common not our political views, we need to make sure it stays friendly ??

Here, here and well said  :thumbup

Re: A debate section - mtread - 17-03-19

They're fairly easy to spot if you want to ignore them. They are all in the 'General' section and have obvious titles.

It started off with Brexit discussion in another subject thread. Brexit affects us all as bikers - insurance, driving licence permissions, changes to bike regulations etc. Quite a few of us tour Europe and it was clearly relevant. Then it wandered, so thankfully somebody gave it it's own thread.
Then somebody started a thread about Jihad Brides. God knows why, just to provoke argument I think.
Then during a discussion about visiting holocaust centres, somebody turned it into an argument, when it wasn't.

I'm expecting somebody to pop in here any minute and start arguing  :rolleyes

Personally I stay out of things like the BrexShit thread but if theres stuff that needs reporting to the admins, click on the "report to moderator" link on the item that needs reporting and myself or the other admins will take a look.

I do sincerely apologize for starting that Brexit thread lesson learnt wont do it again. Didn't mean it to be taken seriously just a wind up that got out of hand.

Re: A debate section - His Dudeness - 20-12-19

Can we move all political threads out of general and into the naughty corner? That way the political masterminds can still have at it and the rest of us don't have to see it? Please.

Re: A debate section - YamFazFan - 20-12-19

Most people see the thread title and don't bother opening it if it's something that doesn't interest them. It's not compulsory to open and read.

It might be a glitch if it's opening that thread up every time you log in. I know a few people have had issues with the tapatalk version.

Re: A debate section - Grahamm - 21-12-19

Then can we move Three Word Story, Word Association and Whoever Posts Last into their own area as well...?

Or I could just keep ignoring them like I already do... :thumbup

I mean what the foc is all that shite about?

But then I just never click on them - I'm not interested.

me too I have never posted into those. And just ignore.

Re: A debate section - YamFazFan - 28-12-19

TBH it's a pity that there isn't a section away from the General one where discussion threads could be moved to. I'd have no issue with that, but I'm not entirely convinced that those who wish to silence such things wouldn't just seek them out there and  continue to demand their removal :\ .

Re: A debate section - His Dudeness - 28-12-19

I think we just have to accept that this is no longer a site about motorbikes. The bikers have put their gear on and hit the road and the people that are left are more interested in talking about other things not bikes. Has everyone gone to the facebook page or have bikers just stopped talking online?

From some of the comments I've read, that's the impression I get. I'm not sure if it was the politics thread that drove them away tho, I think they'd already flipped their side-stands up and spun off.

Anyway if it bothers the forum that much, in the interests of harmony (and bearing in mind that I may at some point need to call upon either His Dudeness's or Unfazed's superb technical/mechanical advice Wink )  I for one will cease posting in the political thread (started by Grahamm BTW :pokefun )

Not my fault people couldn't read or understand the title "This is NOT an attempt to start a discussion..."  :rolleyes
