Guy's back
Posted by: coffee - 26-03-19, 08:34 PM - Forum: Diesels and Lawnmowers (Bike racing n things) - Replies (2)

Good news about Guy Martin doing the Cookstown 100 this year, when we used to go to all the big irish races you could guarantee he'd be up there with the Dunlop boys,Ryan Farquar,Bruce Anstey, etc, etc, and the craic after was something else, especially if once in a while you went to Joeys' bar. When I was racing I sold Guys' dad a Rob North triple, this was when they wasn't a classic bike, they was well competitive, unless it was open 1000 races when the latest Yamaha TZs' would just fuck off  :lol but I remember Guys' dad being a nice bloke ,proper friendly northen type and when I seen the bike at Darley some time later it was like a different bike, absolutely mint! when I had it it was a bit rough to be honest,as long as I could get out for the next meeting I was happy.I think Guys' only doing classic races at Cookstown, funnily enough on a Rob North triple,I've often wondered if that might be my old one 'cause there can't be that many about, must try and find out.

  Lubricating the EXUP parts
Posted by: Dynspud - 26-03-19, 06:10 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Evening Foccers
Looking for advice on what is the best grease to use when reassembling the EXUP valve.
Copper grease tends to dry off and leave a powdery residue on the internal pieces so wondering what might be better.
Is it OK to use molybdenum disulfide grease?
Many thanks in advance,
Dave.

  Airbox rubbers
Posted by: agricola - 26-03-19, 12:24 PM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - No Replies

Noted the bike seemed to be uneven running when I was out on it last week, so decide to have a look if the injectors were out of balance. Noticed the one of the securing clips appeared to be slightly misaligned and the rubber, so pulled the airbox off to check. Looks like the rubber may not have been seating properly on the neck, and the clip has slipped off the neck alittle. There is a slight indent in the rubber and the rubber is slightly oval shaped (the indent nicely reflects light in the pic), so took the plunge and order 4 new rubbers and 4 new clips. All on backorder, but should be here within a couple of weeks

  Old man stuff – endoscopy
Posted by: VNA - 24-03-19, 07:34 PM - Forum: General - Replies (56)

Never mind BREXIT, something else much more important has cropped up :eek

I suspect I’m not the only grumpy old man in here.  And foc-u, as we all know, is full of knowledge.  Would appreciate any thoughts on this from those who have had an endoscopy procedure.

I’m booked in for endoscopy to check my stomach and small bowel.  It’s doon the throat.

Now in the past I’ve twice had a camera up ma wee winkie.  I’ve got kidney stone issues, so once in a blue moon they like to have a peek inside ma bladder to make sure all is OK in there.  First time I opted for the local anaesthetic.  To cut a long story short, the second time I had a full general anaesthetic.  No way will I ever be conscious again when they do that to me.

However, this is down my throat.  I have two options.  Local anaesthetic and fully conscious.  Or local anaesthetic and sedated but still conscious.

I have no great fear of general anaesthetics, though I hate the cannula thing.  As soon as I am conscious again, I start asking if they can take it out.  I can be a bit of a pest, but once that thing is out I'm fine.

So the thought of having that cannula stuck in my hand or arm whilst still being conscious to some degree is making me think I should man up and just take the local.  Plus I can just drive up and back myself so I don’t need to inconvenience others.  How hard can this be?

So anybody had this examination?  What’s it like?  Pain is my big fear.  I hate pain and further not having any control whatsoever over it.

Can anybody suggest a way to remove the sticky tape that holds the wheel balance weights on?

Does anyone have a cheap seat going spare?  I don't know if there is a difference between the 600 and 1000?
It's for a Tl1000s trike we're doing :lol .
Cheers.

  Streetfazer

I bought my fazer in early october having owned a VTR1000 firestorm for 1 month which was a nice bike in good nick cost a grand  and sounded awesome but the fuel economy was truly shocking even on a 70-80mph ride to work it would only manage 120miles to a full tank, i couldnt get on with the snatchy throttle and severe engine braking so i sold it for this!!I bought it for £900 more than i wanted to pay as the front fairing was cracked scratched and generally scruffy but i need a bike fast to go to work.

The first time i rode the bike in the dark coming back from work i realised the headlight was cack so i dropped the lumiled H4 bulb i had in the VTR i was an instant improvement but that meant riding with full beam on all the time.
I bought another lumiled H1 bulb but it wouldnt fit in the apeture.

Bugger!!
So back in december just before i emigrated to lithuania i sold the complete front end for £100 and decided to streetfazer it.
Now i did like the original fairing it was retro cool but the woeful headlight made me realise it was a good decision i wasnt going to throw silly money at some retrofit labs projectors on a £900 bike
I realise some of you may think i've butchered a perfectly clean bike but this is the best side (still with dent in tank and scratches on engine cover) the other side was bad, plus i wanted a project bike if a wanted to buy a perfect bike that just needs oil and petrol I could go buy one, but  that would take away the enjoyment of going to the garage and playing away from the wife and teapot lids.
