Apparent misfire and difficulty pulling away.
Posted by: Lonewolf - 01-05-19, 07:02 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

Gen 2 2008 fz1s fazer: Yesterday I attempted to go for a ride, on starting off the bike bogged a little but off we went to some traffic lights where we stopped. Same thing happened again, had to rev more than usual to pull away. This happened several more times so ride was aborted and home.
I’m guessing that it may be related to a coil. I’ve ordered new plugs as it does need a change so will be doing them. I took out the LH side coil out today (nearside) and did a test as shown on YouTube, the primary test showed up as 3.1 ohms and tha secondary was 9.45 k ohms.
I gather the first result is classed as a fail (as per manual instruction) the secondary falls into the pass range.
(I must add that I’m in no way electrically savvy so relied on YouTube for help)
Do you think I’m on the right track with my checking.......I intend to check the other 3 coils when I change the plugs?
Another thing.......I ordered the plugs as per the handbook, but when I removed the plug today it looked like the pic in the manual (earwig tail shape) but the new plugs ordered look like a conventional plug. (NGK/ CR9EK)
Any advice appreciated.

  6 sided socket Advice
Posted by: fazersharp - 29-04-19, 02:10 PM - Forum: General - Replies (39)

I have just learned from the FZS600 section that a 6 sided socket is less likely to round off a nut. Never knew that  :o I will be fitting a new chain and sprocket set and I have the sizes I need but they are all 12 points

So I am going to invest in a few for the  :faz rear wheel / sprocket nut/ and a 14 and 17mm. Are these Draper ones a waste of money https://www.toolstation.com/12-drive-6-p...et/p52746. If so any recommendations of something better.

New front tyre fitted and now a singing bearing noise present
Posted by: Bad bad boy - 29-04-19, 11:23 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Hi all, I need some help, I had a new front tyre fitted the other day on my fzs600, I've now done about 80 miles on it. Right from the off there has been a bearing type noise coming from front, and it's still there, is it possible that the front wheel bearings can now be defective as a result of a new tyre, or ... could it be a fitting mistake ie hub axle nut over tightened, I do not trust the company that did this work for me now ! Just want to get my bike done properly, any ideas would be very welcome thank you Alan
