To preface this, I’m now a very much slower rider than I used to be. I tend to stick to speed limits and allow sufficient space to stop or take evasive action as and when necessary.
I’ve hurt myself enough times to know it hurts.
So…Just back from a gentle ride in country. As part of my circuit I go down some narrow roads. They’re sufficient for two cars to pass if you’re careful. Today, however I came round a blind corner and found a group of 5 or so cyclists filling the entire road. One of them was so far over onto my side of the road she was in the gutter! As I said I travel at a speed that I can take action and stopped OK. They looked shocked when I unleashed a few choice words.
Later on the same road two herberts decided it was Ok for them to fill the entire road by cycling two abreast and just weren’t moving even slightly out the way.
On a bike I’m just about as “vulnerable “ as them so why do I have to jump in the hedge to miss them and why don’t they accept as least some of the responsibility for their own safety?
Rant over but it boils my blood!
I have been lurking the forum for some months and just now stumbled upon this thread. Still have not introduced myself. I am a proud owner of a 2000 FZS600 and I like it a lot. it is my first bike and I am not planning on selling it any time soon. Here it is:
So I've finally had enough of the bloody seat on my FZ1, so does anyone have a modded seat they might want sell or can recomend some place online that isnt going to charge me an arm and leg to reupholster the riders seat.
Good evening all. Sorry for the delay in the introduction! I recently bought a 2010 FZ1. What a belter of a bike! Look forward to chatting and maybe picking a few brains for hints and tips. ??
My new ride: The Yamaha FZ1 1000cc. Well, have now owned the Yamaha FZ1 for a few days now and am simply knocked out; It's So Good! That incredible rush of power over 5K, so intoxicating! The way it corners with such reassurance and presence it commands when parked up. Having ridden sports bikes for years (Suzuki GSXR1000 K6, 750 K5 & Honda CBR600) I tired of the neck, wrist and back aches, knowing an upright was the answer but something that would still connect me to that sporty heritage I had accustomed to. The Yamaha FZ1 answered all my needs! Of course the transition took a few days, ie;- longer wheelbase, different trail and more reciprocating mass all made the bike turn in slower and understeer, but after a few days I adapted to this new riding style delighting in the upright comfy ride position! My negatives would be the "numb bum" from the hard seat and the slightly high 32.1" seat height for my instep 29" legs, lol. Other than that, well done to Yamaha for a Brilliant bike that ticks all the right boxes, and even now looks just as modern as anything out there!
Not been on this forum in a while but I'm now moving away from my fz1 and thought I'd also post it here
It's a 2008 red fz1 with 23000 miles on it
Arrow can
Conti attack 4 tyres with lots of life left
It's a nice clean bike
I'm selling as I now want to try out a supermoto bike.
Hi all, i'm Steve from Bedfordshire and I recently became the proud owner of a 2001 Fzs1000 which I bought from a friend for £200. Needless to say it was in a bit of a state. After a fair bit of elbow grease and a new rear wheel, silencer and tyres the old girl is now back on the road. The bike rides great but is still on the standard rear shock which definitely needs replacing. Having read a fair bit on the forum I've decided to put either an R6 or S1000rr unit on the bike. I was wondering if any of the later shocks from either model will fit as there seems to be more choice on Ebay ? Cheers, Steve.
I'm delighted to shout it from the roof tops that I am now the UK supplier of the Ivans jet kits!!!
Moving forwards, I am offering the following services:
Ivans jet kits for the Yamaha fzs 1000 fazer:
Slip on kit - £135
Full Monty kit - £135
Seal Kit - £40, these seals are higher quality than those currently on the market and more resistant to E10 than your standard or cheap replacements. They do not include the replacement valve or the valve seal.
I can rebuild your carbs, which is £175.. This includes a full strip down, ultrasonic clean + rebuild with the high quality o'ring kits as above. This price is in addition to the cost of the Ivan's jet kit. I will not rebuild your carbs or fit the jet kits with the original seals that are still in place.
Ride in ride out maybe available but message me to discuss.
The carbs will be balanced on the ride in ride out with my carbtune balancing kit and with the engine running. Or, for the bench rebuild, they will be balanced on the bench, but I would advise balancing once on the bike with the engine running.
On the ride in ride out service I will also reset your throttle position sensor. On the bench rebuild, you will have to follow the tps reset procedure which I will provide.
For the ride in ride out service you are required to pay a deposit which is to be agreed prior to booking dates, and the remainder paid as cash.
My location is 5 mins from junction 26 of the M62. I may be able to travel to you for an extra charge depending distance etc.
