As the recent addition doesn't have a centre stand, I purchased a front wheel clamp to hold the bike on the table. I searched a plenty for something robust, decent quality, and at a reasonable price. I bought it from a company called SGS in Derby (10 miles away) and paid £48, which looked good value against some of the second hand rubbish on sale for that much. I've been impressed with it.
Today, after searching through the second hand stuff again, this time for paddock stands, I checked the SGS site and found a pair there at £55, front and rear. Assembled them tonight, and again, I think that for the price and quality, they are very reasonable indeed. I don''t know what postage costs would have been but as I'm only within spitting distance I was able to visit the trade counter.
Perhaps worth noting if anyone else is considering similar purchases
