  Hey foccers!

Hi fellow fazer owners! Had mine for a year now, what a great first bike. Big Grin

Done loads to mine over the last year but so much still on the to do list. Interested to see what others have done/ recommended upgrades.

So far I’ve had total drive loss at a hairy speed on the motorway but didn’t die, hurrah! Front sprocket nut fail as seems to be the norm. Thread stripped so new (ebay) engine went in.

Hate the look of the seat, attriactivess rating = sanitary towel. I’ve done a custom job on mine, not the best but vastly improved!

Carbs balanced, new battery, fuel pump, new tyre, rims resprayed and taped, new coils, leads, sparks, engine repainted, new levers, gel grips. Oh and lowered 50mm on dog bones for my short arse  :b

Lots more to do, but an absolute joy to ride. Hope I’m now into the purely cosmetic stuff! Anyone got a good clutch cable replacement video/manual?

Also, I’ve ridden two different engines now and they were both really whiny in 3rd, I take it that is just a Fazer thing? May look at suspension in future, standard seems to be like a puddle jumper  Smile

Looking forward to learning more on the forum!

  Side stand switch does nothing
Posted by: Steve3351 - 07-06-19, 10:27 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (61)

Hi Foccing electrical experts
my sidestand switch never worked...and i've often taken off with it down, without any major mishaps  ...yet.
I decided to have a look at it...switch itself looks OK, When I checked the (blue) connector under the seat I'm getting 0.6 volts....is this normal...?

ERK,,,, just realised that the two wires to the switch are not (+) and (-),,,must check them again...tomoro,,,using battery earth :rolleyes

  Clutch cable! Routing. FZS
Posted by: Decoke Dave - 07-06-19, 06:47 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Made a fundamental error!  Went to change my clutch cable without pulling a fine piece of string behind it to check the routing.  OK with all the clips etc, but under the left side of the tank there seems to be no sympathetic way to route it, there is a rubber cup thing that looks like its meant to go on there? But but after that I am clueless!  Can anyone attempt to explain to me exactly what the original routing is.

What aftermarket exhaust did you all get?
Posted by: redmandan - 07-06-19, 12:14 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

My downpipes are starting to look very crusty, in the quest to keep the old bird on the road and looking her best I'm gonna have to change them in the near future. Downpipes alone plus end can are +-£300, buying them seperately runs >£300

From what I see there's basically Black Widow and Delkevic giving the best value/range and it seems to me Delkevic are the better of the two. My riding buddy has a Delkevic on his bandit and it's pretty sweet.

I don't want a neighbour waking howl, I use my bike to commute in the summer from 6am and pissing them off is not my intention. I want a decent exhaust that let's the engine run well but let's be honest, in a tunnel if you wang the throttle back with the standard can it's a bit underwhelming.

I'm also a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to styling. No streetfazer here (sorry 74eldiablo). So with this in mind I've narrowed down the following 2 options, just putting it out there for your thoughts:

The practical option : 450mm so i guess this is the neighbour pleaser. This is also the same one my riding buddy has.
The wishlist : I like the look of it, perhaps a little stubby at 320mm but they don't have a longer one. Again, I'm not about announcing my presence to the whole neighbouhood.

So what do you all have? It's hard to make a decision without hearing how it will sound on the bike. There's also £50 between the practical and the wishlist.

Rear Non STD brake caliper seals - Job Done - good price - fit well
Posted by: 74eldiablo - 06-06-19, 09:00 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Just thought i'd share that i bought these rear caliper seals, fitted properly no problems, cheap as chips, ok original yamaha is of course where its at, but for someone looking to replace their seals  without the feeling of getting gang raped for £26 for 4 bits of rubber this is where it's at.

I can say that i would definately buy them again, even if they last a year they are still worth every penny.

Anyone fancy doing an FOC-U meetup and ride down to Brighton on the 8th September?

Current suggestions are to meet around the M25 near either the A20 or M2

Cast your eyes over my calliper pistons and tell me if they’re shot
Posted by: redmandan - 04-06-19, 08:51 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi guys

As the title says. I didn’t remember to take photos of the others before sticking them back in the callipers, these are probably on the better side but not much between them all.

This is after cleaning with brake cleanr and a light sanding with 400 grit. There was a clearly visible line of dirt when I got the pistons out and all the corrosion is in that area, above the seals, so I don’t think there’s an issue but it’s always good to have all your opinions.
