  Crash Protection??
Posted by: Wade90 - 19-01-12, 02:15 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Any thoughts on best type of crash protection?
Bobbins, R&G etc,  Crash/Engine bars, Renntec?  or none!
Many thanks in advance for any thoughts! Big Grin

  R1 front end my way
Posted by: devilsyam - 19-01-12, 12:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

Since i did this way back when i thought i'd revisit it now that many R1's models have since been and gone

As usal i want it to look as factory as possable

1st stage was the fitment and sorting of spacers and disc's to fit the later r1 5 spoke wheels

[Image: 393639_10150400838128800_682288799_87882...2748_n.jpg]

So shopping list was then put in place and ebay put to good use

A set gen 2 yokes were sourced

Now the fazer stem was swapped out but was 1mm to small into bottom yoke so the stem was turned down to - 3mm and
a top hat made +4mm and welded in place this did away with the need to pin

gen 2 yokes also retained the factory look i was after rather than a after market r1 top yoke or a rewoked r1 top yoke

Now it is well know i personally dont like the lines of the gen 1 when not correcting the fork length i just dont like the
stance

so a set extenders were made and capped off with my frame plugs

[Image: 409477_10150507655528800_682288799_92088...8023_n.jpg]

these will give me back the lost length on the 08 legs and still if i require allow me to drop the front up to 10mm
this also overcomes the sidestand issue

std dics on the 08 are 298 and i can use the r6 ones already fitted but i have some 320mm from the 04-06
i am going to use along with the six pot calipers

i'll keep the thread updated as i progress with this

  Best ear plugs
Posted by: bigfootpete - 19-01-12, 11:05 AM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

First post on the new forum - surprised at the slowness of this site!  :eek

Anyway back to the topic - I have a pair of customised ear plugs that I have had for about five years but I guess
as my ears grow they have become un-effective, so I resorted to some wax earplugs I got in France - good but a bit
fiddly and messy.

So I looked in Boots and found some silicone ones for about £3 - not fantastic value for money (you only get three pairs),
but they are reusable and washable.

They are without a doubt the best I have found for blocking out excess noise - even better than the £50 custom plugs!

So if you care about your hearing then give them a go...

Is anyone from the FOC-U going to this years TT or Manx?

Can any one confirm if Michael Dunlop will be Riding a Sidecar this year? If he is... that will be absolute mental carnage on the track!!

Hey guys - repost copy and share this please. BikerFM are setting up some TBE exposure this Thursday on Roger Tuson's show 8pm till 10pm. This Thursday should be a basic intro to TBE and what its about, hopefully followed up next Thursday with Talan appearing and being interviewed on the show. If you want to support TBE tune in online and use the little message box to send in your messages of support for TBE. The more that can do this the better. BikerFM link is

  Bike reving at 4k
Posted by: Nick Hood - 18-01-12, 09:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

I have just started up my fz1 after a two month rest. It starts ok but after a couple of minutes it ticks over at 4k. I took it out for a 8 mile run . Everything seems fine power  wise but when you stop or pull the clutch in it's back to the 4k. It's not the idle adjustment screw. Any ideas ?
