| Disconecting Battery With Datatool Alarm |

I'm leaving my Fazer at the airport for a couple of weeks but it has a datatool alarm fitted. Is it ok to put the alarm on service mode, disconnect the battery and reconnect when I get back(assuming my bike is still there lol) to avoid draining it? Datatool was on bike when I bought it which is a minus in my opinion. Thanks.

Hi,
My Fazer is 9years old this year it's a 2003 foxeye FZS600.
Going strong but the last few mornings I have switched the bike on started it up, all ok. Then while getting my gloves on there is the rattle chatter from under the seat. As if the relay is cutting in/out.
The bike is still running give it some revs and the chatter under the seat goes away.
The bike is on an optimate at least one night over the weekend usually Sunday night.
I ride all year round so the bike is on the road a lot.
So is my battery on it's way out and not holding charge properly.
A couple of weeks ago I left the headlights ON for 10-15minutes with the engine not running.
Then when I came to start it I got the full on chatter under the seat so I knew there wasn't enough charge in the battery to start the bike.
Put it on the optimate over night and the bike has been fine until now.
So have I possibly damaged the battery.
This is the 2nd battery and probably getting on for 4years old.
But it's regularly on the optimate.
So am I looking at the death throws of a soon to be duff battery.
Cheers,

OK I admit it = last time I went out in rain (not salt you understand) I put the Fazer away dirty and wet :o
I have always used oily type chain oil and whinged about the spray over the back of the bike so when someone recommended some non splash white greasy type stuff I jumped at the chance.
I have never had rust problems on my chain with oily chain lube and always put too much on but this stuff seemjed to coat the rollers and sideplates quite nicely.... until I got the baby out yesterday before riding today and found thje rollers and sideplates all rusty. :'(
I dont think I have any tight spots on the chain so maybe it is only surface but after a 20 mile ride today the rollers are still dull and rusty after a good coating of the oily stuff last night
Have I ruined my chain?
