Gen 1 fazer - odometer reads in kilometres
Posted by: Ddddaveeee - 04-03-12, 05:38 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (25)

Recently bought a 53-reg FZS1000 - loving the bike but noticed something odd about the speedo.
The speedo is in MPH as normal (KMH in small digits), however I've just noticed that the digital odometer and trip recorders are reading kilometres - I measured the distance to the petrol station and compared to what it says in my car - 5.3 in the car, 8.6 on the bike.
Is there a way to re-set this? I've read things about holding in the SELECT button on other Yamahas, but can't find anything definitive for the Fazer.
I disconnected the battery briefly since I bought it - but surely this wouldn't change it from Miles to KM?
Odometer reads 14k - if this is KM and not miles that's no bad thing, but I'm planning on putting a fair few miles on it, and worried the KM reading would go so high it'd become unsellable.
I'm pretty sure it's not an import (any way to check?)
Any suggestions?

Pain in the .... err legs..
Posted by: lardarse - 04-03-12, 05:08 PM - Forum: General - Replies (18)

Ok, so I am getting old, I have vastly abused my body over the years, and yes, I do feel 100 in the body and 10 in the head...

This was happening on the 600, and it's appeared on the thou, after about 3 hours in the saddle, I get a cramping pain in the top inner of me left thigh.
I am contemplating a pretty decent run up to Cullen in May, via The Cairngorms. I will then be coming back via Blairgowrie, Perth etc...
I don't want to be hobbling when I'm off the bike.

Can anyone reccomend any exercises or stretches that will help, or am I better going to the vets for a put down shot?

Any advice or abuse welcomed..

Hi all, just popped in to browse and get a general idea about the Fazer. Don't own one at the mo but have always thought it may be a good choice. So I'm gonna be looking at stuff like common mods, running costs, good and bad points of ownership etc. I'm Shaun btw, from sunny Hartlepool, so everyone have a virtual beer on me!

  Gear change??
Posted by: JonathonBeedie - 04-03-12, 02:25 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi!
After bit of advice....whilst riding the other day (pardon me if this is really lame) but i was able to change up gears, without using the clutch??? Is this normal on fazers? I had a 06 ninja prior to my fazer, and was told this was ok to do on a ninja....didnt know if same rules applied...i.e. being a different gearbox etck? I know my clutch cable needs replacing as its at end of its adjustment....and after the bike has been running for half an hour, there is a slight rattle at the clutch (which stops when u pull the lever in).....just after some info/advice/comments/mockery  Big Grin

Cheers!

  One piece Rain suit.
Posted by: lardarse - 04-03-12, 12:46 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

Just bought a lovely 2004 FZS100, and with it came a superb one piece rain suit made by "TT Leathers"

It's in black and blue, with a bum bag. It's small in size, and in 9/10 condition, it hardly looks worn at all.

I know that these don't sell for much, and to be honest, I don't want to fleabay it.

What I'm hopiing to do, with the site admin permission, is to donate any proceedings from the suit to "Action For Heroes", "Marie Curie Cancer" or a childrens Charity of the sites choice.

I know it won't be a big donation, but every little helps.

Looking for £15 plus post, I guess the post will be a fiver, if it's more, I will pay it, if it's less, it will go to the charity chosen. The white dots are from dust on me bloomin Iphone, sorry about the quality

Jack Russell not included..... Big Grin

The boards still around..

Been inactive for some while, been riding, but not been on the net.

Loved the old Yuku site, and glad to see FOC-U is going strong.

Now replaced old FZS 600 with a Thou... and loving it more than ever.

Thanks to Admin and mods for keeping the site running.
