New shock shows up other issues!
Posted by: 1967fazer - 15-03-12, 09:24 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

Well I received my new R6 shock today (thanks Luke) and after stripping the bike down (replacing chain and sprockets as well, so wheel out job), I thought I'd check all the suspension bearings. The linkage bearings were ok but the swingarm bearings were knackered! The swingarm was wobbly! Thankfully managed to get some replacement bearings (for free!) and fitted them. Unfrotunately ran out of time tonight (doing the work at a mates garage), but I'm pleased I decided to change the shock as I wouldn't of known about the bearings and I'm just thinking of the speeds I was doing last Monday ! Gulp!!! Hopefully get it all together tomorrow and it should be like a new bike Smile . Will report on how things are with all the new bits fitted soon. Recomendation of the day.....check your swingarm bearings asap!

That said, I'd like to say thank you to all those who have purchased not just the kits but also other bits Ive "knocked up" in the past.

  Front Brake Pads
Posted by: VNA - 15-03-12, 08:06 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (12)

It's time to start getting my 2004 Gen1 sorted for the summer again.

Sorry if this has been done to death already!

Had the bike from new, and have always fitted OE pads.

But the last time I fitted a new set it was about 70 quid, and I doubt it's got any better.

So what's the best third party option?  What feels nearest to the excellent OE pads (anybody know who the OE maker is?) without eating my OE discs which still have plenty of life left in em.

On dipped with headlight mod - sidelight on too... normal?
Posted by: Fuzzy - 15-03-12, 07:25 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

Hi everyone,

I had my local garage wire the heated grips into the ignition today, and this evening I fitted a HID kit I got off ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380294129095?s...1497.l2649).

When testing the new HID, I noticed that the sidelight was on as well as both headlights (bike has headlight mod). First time I've noticed it, seems wrong to me.... any ideas what could be causing this? I can't see it doing too much harm - is it worth sorting out?

Finally, is it advisable to disable the headlight mod if you have HID fitted?

Thanks,

Fuzzy

removing cylinder head cover - water pipes
Posted by: mark747eagle - 15-03-12, 06:14 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Having removed the AIS (and failed miserably to tap the theads for the take-offs on the exhausts) I'm trying to remove the cylinder head valve cover.  Anyone have any tips on how to get the two large rubber coolant pipes off that pass through the cover into the head?  There doesn't seem to be enough room to pull them off the spigots.
Many skinned knuckes!
