FZS600 factory exhaust and link pipe, as new
Posted by: Streetbudgie - 16-04-12, 07:27 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (8)

Having a clear out and found the original can and link pipe wrapped up in bubble wrap at the back of the shed. It was only on the bike for a week and then the race can went on.

It was sprayed with WD40 wrapped up and tucked away along with the original chain guard in the race can box which it's still in.

I've still got my Fazer with about a million miles on her and still user her daily, I doubt I'll ever need the original exhaust though and as I'm moving house I need to de-clutter.

Make me an offer...

There's also a scratched alternator cover which I replaced after a drop and the chain guard, which can go with the exhaust for free if you want them.

Test rode a Cross Tourer at the weekend.
Lovely bike, silly prices, got back on my Fazer 1000 and thought.....  how stupid would I be to part with my Fazer - luvvin' it!  (even after blowin' a fork seal too!)

WANTED: Left foot peg for 2001 600
Posted by: ozpom - 16-04-12, 01:55 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

The spring in my left foot peg has broken which I'm assuming I can't fix so has anyone got one lying around? Doesn't need to have the rubber on it as I can swap that over from the old one.

Posted by: bettinson200 - 16-04-12, 01:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

hi all Smile
just need a bit of advise on poss clutch. i have noticed over the past couple of months, i have a wirring noise from engine? first thought it was the chain and sprockets. but these look ok. then i have noticed that while riding if i pull clutch in it stops? release the clutch its there straight away.. the biting point is spot on, changes gear great, and no slipping of clutch??  its just the wirring noise thats annoying me..  could it be a bearing that needs replacing???

  Iridium Plugs,not worth the money!
Posted by: chunk166 - 16-04-12, 09:59 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (34)

I just phoned my local bike shop (Ducati dealer) & asked about Iridium plugs for my Fazer 600, I asked if there was any benefit to be had from them & he has told me that if i was going to do track days or lots of hi speed riding then they might be ok but for normal road, everyday riding he suggested just sticking to the standard plugs as there really is not much difference except the price!!

Just thought i would share this with you guys maybe save a few Quid  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

  What oil for my FZ6-SA?
Posted by: Grahamm - 15-04-12, 10:18 PM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (1)

I check the oil level fairly regularly on my FZ6 (04-06 model), but whilst on a ride-out today I noticed that the Oil Warning light was lit. It went out before I could do more than think "hang on, that shouldn't be on!", but it got me a bit concerned...

At the next stop I did quickly check the oil level which seemed to be down at the bottom of the marks on the dipstick, but even though I put it on the centre stand it was on a slight slope to the left and I didn't have time to let it drain down properly.

When I got home I checked again in my shed (which also has a slight slope, but this is from front to back) giving it more time to settle and the oil was half-way between the max and min marks so it's possible that the slope or the lack of time when draining compromised the first reading.

Either way, it seems that, having done about 6000 miles since the last service, adding some oil would probably be a good idea, except that I'm not sure what to get.

The manual recommends anything from SAE 10W30  to 20W50 depending on the tempertures it's likely to be ridden in and it seems that 10W40 (which covers from -10 to +45 degrees centigrade) would be the best, but then says "Recommended engine oil grade: SE, SF, SG type or higher" which means nothing to me and I don't know whether, if it has a different type in there already, would mixing that with a different grade cause a problem?

So I'd welcome some advice and any useful information here...

  FORK OIL SEALS
Posted by: SEPTIKANGEL - 15-04-12, 09:48 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

One leg's leaking.
Gonna do both seals.
Recommendations as to o/e or aftermarket - leaning toward original due to past experiences but been quite some time since I've had to do any forks - are the ones from Wemoto okay?  I used to shorten spring in seal itself to assist in making it a better seal - this still done?
