  Footpump Reccomendations
Posted by: Phil TK - 02-08-12, 12:53 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Can anyone reccomend a decent footpump that works on motorcycle tyres without breaking after two weeks/leaking/letting air out when the clip is removed/falling over when you pump it etc. Me and my brother have been through 3 footpumps in as many months and have just binned a useless Halfords one. Does anyone use one of those stirrup type pumps?
Only caveat is, I don't really want to spend more than £25

  Chain riveter/splitter advice
Posted by: DryRob - 02-08-12, 07:03 AM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

The time's come for me to change my chain and sprockets, the chain I've ordered has a soft link so I'm looking into buying a tool and have seen there are three main types (I don't wanna use two hammers):

G-clamp type: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Motorcycle...45fc36feaa
Wrap around type: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-CHA...5d345ac7b2
Smack with a hammer type: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Whale-Brand-Ch...337738adf7

Anyone got any advice which is best? I know there are two types of pin on the soft link, I'm going to ring up and ask what type comes with my chain when the shop opens.

  Bought it!!
Posted by: philshaq - 01-08-12, 09:23 PM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

Finally got sorted!

Bought this tonight, well chuffed, only thing is, I need to pass my test! So the old man is taking it back to his while I wait for my test date next week.

Itchy feet, and palms, want to get on the road! Will no doubt post more over the coming weeks...

Is it hard to change the ignition barrel? Its not nackered just requires a certain knack to do it, which I will probably learn but it might be worth swapping out...

  Removing rear disc bolts
Posted by: old son - 01-08-12, 08:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

A mate has got a GS1200 with a worn rear disc. The T40 bolts that hold it on are like cheese and semi recessed. This mate has rounded one and has asked how he can get it out. The disc is fitted to the hub so he cant take the wheel to his local engineering shop unless he can remove the hub. For this he will need an extractor!
Anybody have any ideas how he can remove the last bolt? I suggested warming the disc. Does it sound like that might work? He can't cut the head off because it is recessed and he can't tap the bolt round with a centre punch because its recessed.
