S1000RR Shock Mod
Posted by: Jinx46 - 30-07-12, 09:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

Hi Everyone,

I've been thinking for sometime about changing the rear shock on my Fazer 1000 and found this :- http://www.yamahafz1oa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121131.So i read it a few times and thought i would give it a try.

I managed to source one from Ebay and some '99 GSXR dogbones, and today i set about fitting it.
It took about 3 hours in total and was quite easy.
I'm going to set the high and low speed compression damping to halfway.I'll set the rebound damping the same, leave the preload as is, and then take it out for a test ride.(Probably Wednesday as its due to piss down here,Suffolk, tomorrow).

The ride height with the GSXR dogbones is approx 10-12mm above stock which tips the back end up quite nicely and as my forks about 7mm through the top yolk i think i will probably reset them level with the top.

Here(hopefully)are some pics.

Sidenote before I start: My wife has just cracked me up watching a Canadian woman fall off her horse at the Olympics by saying "She must have lost her suction"  :rollin

Any, back on topic - I've ordered a Securix 4Channel SME DVR and cameras - has anyone used one of these as there is something specific I would like to find out about regarding the motion sensing and Alarm output ?

  Givi V35 Panniers fitting
Posted by: coansha - 30-07-12, 04:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

I was looking at panniers for my 2004 FZS1000 V35. I know I can get the tubular frame and fit the E21 but what about the V35 by Givi...
As far as I can see, there is not a fitting for them, has anyone managed to fit a set??
Any other suggestion for what works best and looks the biz!
Thanks.

  First month of ownership
Posted by: tonyash56 - 30-07-12, 01:30 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Had the 600 about a month now ..no issues , did a d,i.y.job on the headlight , it now has two dip beams , got rid of a large top-box and rack that came with it, also replaced the mini indicators that were fitted to the rear, and put on foam grips, I went to a meet in Margate wednesday night, met a guy flogging a 52 plate with 2100 miles for £1100 GUTTED ! I paid £1200 for mine , and it was a cat C in 2002  Sad ..still onwards and upwards ,I/ve got to get a double bubble to keep some of the wind off , the indicators don't self cancel , don't know if that's a fault or if the are all like that , all my other Yams self cancelled , even back in the 1970's minor gripe ,  still having cheap fun Smile ...Tony

  redundancy and the law!
Posted by: chilly - 30-07-12, 10:47 AM - Forum: General - Replies (45)

sadly been made redundant AGAIN! fifth time in six years :\ . i wont name the company but i used to drive a 44tonne tipper for them and after we all decided to join unite (nobody else in the company is in the union) they decided they didnt need 6 drivers (out of 18) so after 30 days consultation and a weeks notice we were given our marching orders. they insisted we were surplus to requirement because there was not enough work for us. this was a complete lie as we were run off our feet every day. also eight or nine drivers a week from another depot in ireland came across to work with us because we had too much work and they had none. they are still coming over doing the job. also if there is no work why is the warehouse manager and one of the shunters now going out doing my job  :eek . the union argued that the job was not redundant and we would see them in court if they didnt back down hence there is a tribunal some time this month. are they breaking the law? what if any result can we expect from a tribunal? i have signed on the agency but they wont start me yet because its a long term contract and i am off to turkey for a fortnight next week so as it stands i wont have earned anything for a month! (2 weeks here and 2 in turkey) its a good job we all like beanz on toast for tea (smart price ones at that)!

I may have to sell my Fazer so I'm listing it here as open to offers for it.  It's had  one previous owner to me and has been very well looked after by him with oil changed every 3k miles.  35k miles Summer use only, which were accrued in yearly 3k mile European tours, the bike was then serviced and put away in a heated garage until the following year.

There are small marks of use here and there as is to be expected but the bike looks very good for its age. Stock apart from a blue flame can, genuine Yamaha crash bungs and a belly pan, the bike rides A1. It's due a front tyre but otherwise good to go. Taxed till October (I think) and MOT'd until April or May next year. Sorry to be so vague but I can find out the exact details for interested parties.

I really don't want to part with this bike, but if I have to I thought it best to offer it here before ebay. PM and make me an offer if you are able to buy it cash.

Preston area.

Thanks

A friend of mine is in Broomfield Hospitalafter throwing his Fazer Gen1 down the road. He's fine, but apparently the Bike's in bits. A sad day to be sure.
