  FZS 600 1998 for sale
Posted by: Oxygen - 01-08-12, 06:52 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

Bugger.

I am moving to hong kong and to export the bike would cost over £500 with 30% import tax of the value and export cost so £800 plus to take it with me.

So here we have another reluctant sale  :'(

Best Chain and Sprockets for the Gen 1?
Posted by: Tmation - 01-08-12, 06:38 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Bike has done nearly 17K, and after sooth sayer Mike mentioned C&S would be near end of life at 20k, plus check front sprocket in another thread, I thought I would check my front sprocket.

Sprocket is just starting to hook, rear and chain seem fine, so time for a new set.

Any recommendations for top quality kit and hopefully an endless chain, not keen on soft links, though I believe the original Yamaha front sprocket is the best? Will pull the swing arm to grease the bearings while I am at it, plus a few other jobs.

  Hotgrips unstuck
Posted by: Jamieg285 - 01-08-12, 12:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

The hotgrips were already fitted to the bike when I got it.  I've discovered that the throttle grip isn't firmly attached, and is moving.  On a relatively short run, the grip can have rotated 90 degrees to the throttle handle, requiring 'reverse thottle' to rotate the grip back to where it should be.  It's also able to move left-right a bit, which has led to sticky throttle.

Any suggestions on the best way to resolve this problem?

  Ramping it up!
Posted by: philshaq - 01-08-12, 11:46 AM - Forum: General - Replies (50)

Hi guys,

Quick question regarding the use of ramps…
I’m most likely going to be buying a bike tonight after a fairly long search and my idea all along has been to also buy a ramp from ebay and use this to get the bike into my back garden, up probably 4 steps totalling probably about 3.5 foot with a ramp of 2.1 meters long, but with the day of trying this getting pretty close I thought I’d ask to tap into your collectively vast knowledge!
A few questions, does anyone currently do this?
How difficult is it going to be?
Should I be looking at a longer ramp or will the gradient be ok?
What is the best method? i.e. walking at the side of it (not really an option for me as the steps aren’t wide enough) or riding it up with something to rest your feet on should you need to stop / touch down.
Do you think it will be possible to do on my own?
I was thinking about putting something into the ground at the base of the ramp for it to rest against so it doesn’t slip when I ride up it, do you think I need anything more than that?
And finally (!) will two planks be enough to put down at the sides (one each side) of the ramp for feet to be put on if I need to pause / take it slow while going up the ramp? Or should I be looking at something sturdier?
Thanks in advance,
philshaq

  Refresh page to log on?
Posted by: GrahamB - 01-08-12, 10:52 AM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

I noticed that a lot of people are having to refresh the page in order to log on lately. Me included. I have deleted the old book mark from my tool bar & replaced it with a new one which seems to have sorted things. Just thought I would mention it.  Smile

Has anyone had experience of a Kabrus Alarmed Disc Padlock? Am thinking of getting one when I get my bike soon.
