Supsected Coil pack / Poor running and no acceleration !
Posted by: Superted87 - 08-11-12, 09:52 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

Hi guys,

first post on here so be gentle!

I have a 2002 Fazer 600 in a rather fetching shade of gold and black! (vomit i call it) IT had been stood in the dry for 2 years and when i bought her i changed the fuel, Oil, filter, battery, chain, sprockets and generally cleaned up and repainted everything that i could. She fires up but runs rough as a badger.

I have been doing some fault finding and have found that removing HT leads 1 or 4 has no effect on the running. If i remove 2 or 3 the engine dies. This is indicating to me that 1 and 4 are not great and in turn is saying coil pack to me. As a Bike novice i do not know much about the TPS however my suspicions are in this area because when i try to rev the engine it just dies!

If anyone could point me in the right direction i would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Ted

pinlock insert: how did i manage to ride without one!!!!!!
Posted by: clayt74 - 08-11-12, 06:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

I know this won't be news to a lot of people. But have just fitted my first clear insert and it is bloody marvelous !!!!
Not only has it TOTALLY  stopped fogging but has also reduced glare and the starburst effect of oncoming lights
I don't usually recommend products but these are a must have for anyone riding this time of year.
£18 inc postage from racevisors if you have a pinlock ready visor. Even worth £40 for a replacement visor if you don't have pinlock  ready.

  Gen 1 - cold misfire & fuel filter Q
Posted by: JayB - 08-11-12, 06:00 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

2 things on my mind at once.

Bike seems to be developing a period of running on 2 or 3 cylinders when started from cold, not just overnight, even if left for a few hours.

Now, obviously, this could be plugs etc - but it had a full service 18 months ago and spark plugs are on the invoice. I will check them, once I can get hold of a Fazer tool kit, BUT this also made me wonder if something else is normal.

When you turn the key, the fuel pump or a solenoid seems to make a load of noises, must be where it's pressurising the filter? Is this normal or dies it sound like a problem?

Bike does soon clear and goes really well when warm - it's just very lumpy for about 20 seconds..

  Fazer 1000 Advice
Posted by: Bloy182 - 08-11-12, 01:38 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Hi

Im new to this forum, i currently own an Aprilia Pegaso Strada 650 3k miles, 2008, and I have been offered a 2004 fazer 1000 13k miles straight swap.

I did own a hornet 900 previous to the Pegaso, i really miss having a bigger bike but wanted some advice if you think this seems like a good deal?

I also use my bike throughout winter, do many of you use your fazer 1000 all year round?

Thanks

Nick
