  DIY wheel painting
Posted by: JayB - 07-11-12, 12:04 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

I've realised that I can't currently afford to have my wheels powder coated Gold, especially riding with these horrible Maxxis tyres on and having a set of Pirellis waiting in the shed, so I think I am going to do a bit of DIY on my front wheel.
Thinking of just giving it a good rub down and getting to work with a can of black Smoothrite.
Any used that on their wheels, I don't want to do a full paint strip at this stage, so just wondering if it will adhere OK and not react with the original paint?

Been a while since we did anything, so be good to catch up with yer all.

  MESSAGE TO ADMINS, HALLOOOOO!!
Posted by: pympster - 06-11-12, 06:12 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Hello Admins,

I was really involved in the forum a year or two back, I was helping with the transition from YUKU. In doing so I setup a test site somewhere and the email address was linked to my personal email.

The result is, I get an email whenever someone registers on the site!! Not sure if it is this version, I think there is a Joomla version somewhere that people are finding. It isn't usually too bad but I'm getting more than 10 a day now!

Can one of the admins please PM me to help stop this happening (especially since I've gone the the dark Bavarian Side  :evil )

Thanks,

Pympster (also shameless plug of my youtube channel since I'm back here: http://youtube.com/pympster )

New found respect for the Fazer!
Posted by: Candyman - 06-11-12, 02:45 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (7)

After 92k miles the Gearbox on my BMW GS has decided to give up.  While that is being repaired I decided to get my wife's Fazer 600 (1998) back on the road.  Her riding boots were packed away when our first daughter came along six years ago and since then it has been sitting in the garage.  I know, I know its not good for a bike to sit around  :rolleyes .  Well it passed the MOT without any issues and I started using it for my 72 mile trip to work and home everyday.  After the GS it did feel rather small and at 6ft1in the wind was catching my head on the motorway, something I am not used too!  I was truly amazed how nice this bike is to ride considering this was the original Fazer.  OK you certainly have to rev it more than a 1150boxer but it's fast and smooth not to mention bloomin light.  Motorway travel is a joy and I am getting used to the wind buffering my head.  Only thing is I can't see behind me so will have to get an extender or something (any ideas?)  The engine seems to purr rather than growl but have come to love it.  What an amazing little bike and fuel consumption is truely amazing, savings for sure.  When my GS is fixed I may just have to find excuses to use the Fazer  Big Grin

Hi All - need some info....
Posted by: stinkerbill - 06-11-12, 02:14 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (4)

Hi folks,

I've just joined and may be looking for a FZ1 Fazer.. the new shape (2006+ ?)

I dont; know much about them other than I like the look of them, but I need to know some info - what to look for, what mods/fixes/model-updates are normal/essential and has anyone raised the bars at all? I'm used to riding more upright bikes (BMW 150GS, Buell Ulysses, KTM Duke, V-Strom... amongst others) and worry the Fazer might be too 'sporty' for my back.

Also, I'd be looking at below £4k for one. Is that even realistic?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!  8)
