  And so it begins................

At last, spare hour or so, thought get on with service the newly acquired FZ1!
Started by getting in the air filter and changing the plugs, previous chap advised me it was fully serviced when he bought it in December, didn't strike me as mechanically minded tho!
Oh my! Don't ever think I've seen a filter like it!  :eek
With 30K on the clock and 2008 vintage reckon it's the original!
Same with the plugs by the looks, at least they're all the same colour, and not black!
So new plugs (I need smaller hands!) oil and oil filter and hopefully new air filter tomorrow courtesy of Amazon!
Hopefully will be able to test and see what it goes like now it can breathe!

Gen 1 yellow with black speedblocks, anyone done it?
Posted by: Billy Balthorpe - 02-06-20, 07:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

As the title says, has anyone done a KR yellow with black speedblocks on a Gen 1? Photos please if you have, I need to get an idea of what I'm letting myself in for. The only saving grace is that if I cock it up a bit, it can't look any worse than it does now. Thanks guys.

Anyone have any experience of these. The oe horn on the bike is useless, but don't fancy fitting a relay, compressor etc. Just want a plug'n'play horn that can be heard. Your thoughts anyone Smile

A good deal on brake cleaner
Posted by: Grahamm - 02-06-20, 11:47 AM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

If anyone's interested, there's a good deal from a supplier on eBay at the moment, six cans of brake cleaner for less than £15

I bought some and it seems to do the job well :thumbup

  R1 Yoke set
Posted by: ArchDruid - 01-06-20, 06:15 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

If any of you are considering a front suspension upgrade, I have a complete R1 Top & Bottom yoke set going cheap.
It’s the 4XV/ 5JJ version. I purchased this with the intention of using it, and repaired the Ignition key mounts (see pic) – someone had cut them off with a grinder, probably in desperation and unable to get the original security bolts out.
I eventually used a different version, and wont be needing this one any longer, so its going cheap.
Reasonable condition, with all the original nuts – although these would be different if you’re converting it for a Fazer.

£35 posted, or if that’s not good enough, make me an offer ?

NOW SOLD Silver FZS1000 2003 less than 15K miles
Posted by: RogD - 01-06-20, 03:08 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

I bought this FZS1000 just over a year ago and have ridden her less than 1K miles in that time. She is a great  bike but my bad knees do not make riding her a simple job beyond 30 miles.
So she is for sale. Regd March 2003, 14600 miles recorded, supported by a sheaf of old MOTs. Service history and receipts included. She is MOT'd until 25 Oct 2020, Currently SORN, and I have the V5C in my name.

  • Scottoiler fitted
  • Givi rack
  • Fender extender
  • Hugger
  • Lowered footrests, originals included
  • Datatool alarm / immobiliser fitted and working
  • Good Michelin tyres front and rear
  • 2 keys
She has 2 small cosmetic blemishes which I have tried to capture in images, a small scratch in the laquer on the tank, and a scuff on the edge of the fairing (no plastic damage) when I miss-judged the sidestand and the fence distance  :'(

£2450

(EDIT)...not currently able to post additional images, for whatever reason. PM me for more if required.

Can’t let go, good or bad?
Posted by: Stew53uk - 01-06-20, 01:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Hi guys I’ve been thinking of getting rid of my low mileage fzs1000. I had a buyer, my asking price put the bike back to how he wanted it & then it just kinda hit me. Stew what the hell are you doing, I spent ages finding this bike & money to get it how I want it then want to sell it. I love this bike but really thinking of getting a triumph street triple, any views?
