Looking at the 'What are you reading' thread got me thinking. People were reading various books including a fair number that were bike related.
We all are bike fanatics, otherwise we wouldn't be here, but what other things are we particularly enthusiastic about. Not just hobbies, but things we do to the same level of expertise that we have for bikes? You never know, you might be able to help out another foccer with advice


Here's mine :


Theatre. Not just watching, but I've produced and directed at professional and amateur level, including a couple of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe


Gardening. Particularly vegetables. My garlic and chillies are top notch


I'm also learning to cook. Proper cooking near to good restaurant level from scratch . But that's work in progress.


So what's yours?

Will a Foxeye front fairing fit straight on to a Boxeye bike.... :rolleyes ???
I want to replace my wrecked fairing...last weeks storm blew it over (again) so it's really in bits now. :'(
I will have to replace the lights as well....how difficult...?

New replacement boxeye fairing on Ebay for €100 is pretty good...have to spray it but still...

I have tried to set the float height using the tube method and there was no way I could get near the 4.5mm above the mating service. I have tried setting the floats using a ruler to 14.00mm with the floats on the resting position and the bike run worse than it was before. I will try setting them to 11.00mm tomorrow to see what happens. So while I am taking the carbs off again for about the tenth time, do any of you guy's know what height measurement has worked for you?

Standard FZ8n sprocket setup is 16 front 46 rear.


Has anybody tinkered with different sprockets? 


Im looking to increase fuel efficiency and i understand that either adding teeth to the front or removing teeth from the rear is the way to reduce the ratio. This lowers acceleration / torque which you gain back top end.


My concern is if i add one tooth to the front and remove one from the rear how will this effect the number of links required in the chain?


I have a feeling i may have to adjust the wheelbase adjuster

I’ve got a problem with my 2001 boxeye. Seems to be very similar to some other issues on here but they were on a fox eye and fixed by replacing a relay that doesn’t exist in the boxeye.


Essentially with lights switches on side or dipped, full beam on or off I get no lights at all. If I pull the flash trigger one side does come on. All brake lights and indicators function normally.


I’ve taken apart the right switch gear and all contacts look clean.


Any ideas?

Hello, have just posted in the intro section...new 2008 fz1 owner, been reading up lots about them and wondered what the general consensus was regarding replacing the generator rotor with the updated version as a preventive measure? I note that the magnets coming off does happen although it seems relatively rare.


Also, if i was to replace it is there an opinion on the cheaper RM stator version which is about £220?
