Andreani Suspension Cartridge Kit for FZS600 £145 SOLD
Posted by: nedworthy - 05-05-20, 12:17 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

I've a Andreani Cartridge Kit for front suspension - according to Andreani it should fit all 98-03 FZS 600 models. It's brand new, old stock, non original box. I have the fitting instructions on a PDF to email. It is not the current Andreani kit but is 'similar' to their model: 105/Y08. It has Andreani standard linear springs. if you need stronger springs then there are several suppliers/options for changing.

  Brake disc thickness
Posted by: Millietant - 04-05-20, 02:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

just a quick question - the front discs on our Fazer 600 (15,500 miles) for all intents and purposes look brand new.

The bike hasn't been ridden hard, the pads are original and hardly worn and the brakes work perfectly.

BUT, when I put my digital vernier caliper on them today they both measured (within 0.05mm) 4mm thick. Checking in my Haynes manual, it lists the disc thickness as 5mm New with a minimum service limit of 4.5mm.

The rear disc is 4.97mm thick, with the same 5mm new, 4.5mm minimum limits listed in the Haynes.

I've never ever had a set of discs wear out on me in 45 years of riding (with a number of my bikes reaching +70k miles) and my FJ 12 discs were still perfectly in spec after 75k miles.

Is the info in the Haynes manual wrong? Or do I have a real problem with the front discs on the 600 ?

Basically everything but the instrument cluster, front wheel & headlamps is shot after a crash.

  fork lowers paint
Posted by: butthead - 04-05-20, 10:39 AM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi i have the 2009 S2 FZ6.

im tidying up some bubbling in the silver painted fork lowers, fortunatley the area thats bubbling sits in between two natural narrowing areas of the forks, giving me a natural line to paint up to.
most people on fork lowers tend to go with hammerite soft paint, ideal for older fzs for example , but on the fz6 the paint isnt smooth its a bit rougher sparklier finish, has anyone found a sliver that is a decent match in both closeness of the silver colour and the style of none smooth finish?

TIA

Been sat in my garage for over 10 years.

P & P £5.00,  undertray is free, or collect from Leeds for free.

  FZ1 wobbly mirrors
Posted by: Fazian - 03-05-20, 02:45 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Has anyone got a fix for this? The mirrors wobble at the point where they join the fairing but when I raise them they stiffen up again. I know there is some kind of mechanism inside but it's lost it's ability to hold the mirror legs/arms firm when folded back out.

Is there something I can do or is it new mirrors?

  FZS600 has stopped working
Posted by: Stretchah - 02-05-20, 07:25 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (34)

Hi all,

I got my FZS 600 a few years ago and in the first 2 years went from 25k to 60k mainly commuting, but, it's such a good allrounder...love the bike and it's run like a dream.  Unfortunately, about a year ago I was riding in some seriously heavy rain on the way to a mates and it started to bog down badly  and I was having to give it quite a lot of gas to even keep it running.  It got worse the further I went, made it to my mates and left it outside, but, then had to get the AA home.
When I got home I tried to start it and it would start and run but was back firing and getting worse all the time. At one point you had to give it a handful to even keep it running and then it was backfiring alot and just trying to die.
I felt the pipes and no.2 was cold...I then ran it only when testing things.  I put new plugs in, changed the coils although that would generally effect 2 cylinders not 1. I've tested most things and also Swapped out the CDI unit, installed a new Stator and pick up coil (I had a similar issue once on a GPZ900 and it was pick up coils).
I also tried to test the compression and it was low ish on all but then I wasn't able to warm it up, bu,t it was around the same level on each.  So I think that's probably fine.
The bike now won't start or run at all...it got that bad it just stopped.
I tend to think it's electrical as it seems ot have got worse over a period of time, but, can't think what else to check...
I do get a fairly healthy spark and have given the carbs a going over with cleaner and checked the diaphragm on No.2.  The Fuel pump sounds like it's priming fine too.
I tired to use some different petrol too, but, still won't start, she turns over nicely though and I even got her a new battery.

Any ideas on what else it could be?  I've searched on her and can't find anything that seems similar, Am I missing something?

Any ideas gratefully received Smile
