1st/2nd not snicking in/out of gear smoothly - Clutch drag?
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 09-06-13, 11:03 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

Morning

Changing up and down from 1st or 2nd sometimes requires a more pressure on the lever - as in the lever is pushed meets resistance, keep pushing and its goes into the gear. I have stubby lever on and I am wondering if they are poor machined to the fulcrum/cable position isn't the same as a stock lever.

The following has already been done to the bike -

- due to the friction plates needing replacing and because I had a spare clutch basket & metal c/plates - I replaced the entire clutch.
- adjusted the drive chain to 40mm slack as per manual.
- adjusted clutch lever free play to 3mm, biting point is about 1 inch from the bar.

And lastly is it normal for this bike when coasting along that with the clutch fully disengaged (lever in) and the throttle blipped that I can hear what sounds like the clutch partially spinning, making a clunk etc?

Any help or pointers appreciated, before the local mechanic takes it for a spin and has a look.

  A new Helmet
Posted by: Bornagain again - 09-06-13, 07:40 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Decided it might be worth getting a new helmet as my one is about 8 years old and a bit gaudy (Ben Bostrom Suomy)

Went to a local shop and picked up a Caberg V2X Carbon in Black and white for £150.          [Image: CABERG_V2X_CARBON_EDGE_1_s.jpg]

What a difference. Fits me perfect and was so quiet I had to take my earplugs out cos it was spooky.  Has a drop down sunvisor  and weighs nothing.

Well pleased :thumbup

  Furthest Ever

What's the furthest anyone's ridden their Fazer in one go then?
Mine was Fort William to London, including a circuit of Ben Lawers. Survived on coffee and painkillers (due to reconstructed shoulder) - not recommended! Can't remember what mileage total that was though. By the time I got home, I was hallucinating police sirens!

  Numb Bum
Posted by: hightower - 08-06-13, 11:23 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

So, how do we beat the dreaded numb bum - 250 miles on a Fazer has not been pleasant today. Are those gel seat covers actually a useful investment or are they a cop out?

  Crash Bobbins FZS1000 Gen.1
Posted by: marcusfordus - 08-06-13, 09:39 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

I picked up two sets of these today, now as I only have the one FZS Gen 1 It seems daft to keep a spare (famous last words)

Both sets are red versions, and I've not had chance to get the old ones off the bike yet and replace with this much, much better set.

How's about £40 plus the P&P for them ? which going on the others I've just looked up on the net seems rather cheap (unless you know otherwise)
If you want me to open up the packet and take some pictures of the triangular plate and bolts included, drop me a message.

Marc

I'll probably turn my old ones down on the lathe and make some forks/swing-arm versions  Smile
