A new Helmet - Bornagain again - 09-06-13

Decided it might be worth getting a new helmet as my one is about 8 years old and a bit gaudy (Ben Bostrom Suomy)

Went to a local shop and picked up a Caberg V2X Carbon in Black and white for £150.          [Image: CABERG_V2X_CARBON_EDGE_1_s.jpg]

What a difference. Fits me perfect and was so quiet I had to take my earplugs out cos it was spooky.  Has a drop down sunvisor  and weighs nothing.

Well pleased :thumbup

Helmet technology has come on in leaps and bounds recently and the new one is probably worlds apart from your old one, and much less smelly! Looks good too. 8)

moved from a Caberg justissimo flip front to a V2 (non carbon) thinking it would be quieter with it being a solid helmet with less spaces for the wind to get in.. I was wrong...
Changed to the Caberg Duke flip lid (about same price as the V2 Carbon) and was surprised at the difference, so much quieter.. I think the noise problem came down to the side mounted internal visor levers position.. the Duke's design has moved it from the left side of the helmet to the top which really seems to have helped a lot..

Must say I like the idea of the carbon helmet though, is there a noticeable difference in weight over your previous helm?

Weight is about 1.3 kilo, my Box Bx1 was 1.5.

Box I got free with the bike but it didn't fit my head shape so was noisy and the chinguard rose up so I couldn't see the clocks.

Wifey uses the Box she prefers it and finds it quieter than the Suomy, I was the opposite.  Suomy was good, just old and been kicked around the shed a bit

Its heads to helmets really.

I had a carbon Laser, weight difference was amazing having never had one before that. It really made a difference, especially on long trips, hardly noticed it was there. I'm now waiting for HJC's RPHA10 Carbon to come in - that's probably going to be my next one. There are also some very light composite helmets around, worth considering if it's light weight you're after.

I got a scorpion exo1000 from the infinity outlet store, £50!
I do like the inflatable sides as when the foam starts to lose its spongyness you pump it up to fit the head properly!
