Why do Three cylinder engines have unconventional cc's ?
Posted by: simonm - 16-07-13, 07:19 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

All the triples seems to be 675cc rather than 600cc.  Why is there such a marked difference between a cylinder of 200cc and one of 225cc ?  I would have thought they could tune the engine, exhaust/weight to make any configuration work.  Obviously I'm wrong as Triumph and Yamaha have gone the 225cc route.

Does anyone know specifically what it is that makes the extra 25cc so important ?

cheers
Simon

  HEL Braided Hoses Discount
Posted by: JoeRock - 16-07-13, 05:10 PM - Forum: General - Replies (47)

In a  (possibly 25%) discount off HEL braided brake hoses and their other parts?

Very good quality hoses, usually about £90 for the set front and rear, stainless lines with importantly, stainless banjos (lot of other places use coating).
I'm a member of another forum which gets a discount off them, will be ringing up tomorrow to order a set of hoses, and thought I'd see if I could negotiate a discount on behalf of this forum too? THere's certainly enough of us to make it worth their while if everyone who wanted hoses went to them!

EDIT: Right guys, rang up HEL and they said that they'd be more than happy to offer a 25% discount for their hoses and all other parts for us, so if anyone wants brake hoses, or any other braking related parts that they do, then give them a ring direct on +44 (0)1392 811 601, let them know that you're a member of the Fazer Owners Club forum, and then order your bits, and you'll get the discount!

FZ1 - Givi Topbox Load question?
Posted by: Strifae - 16-07-13, 04:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I am off to Germany on Sunday and I have a Givi Monorack with a E460 topbox, I noticed the maximum weight the rack states it allows for is 6kg.

I have managed to pack some of the heavier stuff into my tank bag so the topbox is currently 9.5kg, I am probably overly worrying but anyone know if this should be fine? my old FZS600 could be overloaded quite significantly but that was all steel frame and steel rack, this is alloy I think and I certainly dont want it to bend my frame or even best case, the rack break and I lose my box down the autobahn?

  Insurance
Posted by: Doddsie - 16-07-13, 03:18 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Last year my insurance was £134 fully comp, inc legal protection, personal accident, helmet and leathers and pillion. This was with Hastings direct. Renewal came through last week and was £158.10. I went online to the meerkat peeps and they came up with £136 for the same cover (also with Hastings direct).
Sooooo, on the phone to Hastings today wanting to know why my renewal was dearer, expecting to hear all the bull shit about new customer deals etc, when the bloke says he can do it now for £123.77!!!!! (also £50 cheaper excess than the renewal quote)

Apparently `the price of insurance changes day by day and today must be one of the good days sir`(yeah right)!!!

Ive just saved £35, plus a possible £50 excess, for exactly the same cover with the same company just for the sake of a 5 min phone call.

Part of me was saying `shove it where the sun dont shine` for trying to rip me off in the first place but all insurance companies are the same, and I wasnt gonna bite my nose off to spite my face.

RESULT!!  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

  air box mods ?
Posted by: Enceladus - 16-07-13, 02:48 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

have replaced the standard filter with a K&N and this got me thinking......
are there any mods to the airbox that anyone has done to improve / increase airflow?
had a play with my cage airbox and it now works (breathes) much easier.
just wondering if it was possible to do anything with the fazer ?
