  Chain and sprocket question
Posted by: bellycgb - 26-07-13, 06:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

OK so ive just bought this DID chain and sprocket kit from ebay :- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...1040757202, it arrived today and a couple of things puzzled me,

the front and rear sprockets are different brands - powerite front  and jt back, is this normal?
the auction says its a VXBG chain with is the heavy duty one but on the chain itself it says VX which is the standard one? any other way to tell what chain you have?

have a look

  Hi from sunny Norfolk.

Hi,
This is my step back into biking after a 12 year break!!

I have just (2 weeks ago) picked up my Fazer S2 on an 09 plate. 4500 miles mint.

Wow how I have missed having a bike!

Only downside is a slightly clunky gear change at low revs, suppose this has to be expected and a snappy throttle. This could be down to me or the fact that most miles are covered with a pillion my good wife.

Anyway treat me kind please, and I'll try to contribute Smile

  Germany on my FZ1S
Posted by: Strifae - 26-07-13, 04:35 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (24)

Well just got back from my trip to Cologne/Bonn on my 08 FZ1 and it didn't disappoint! Was great fun on the autobahn and the great country roads.

The seat mod I had done wasn't bad but was still uncomfy after around 350 miles on the bike so went to Louis in Cologne (Brilliant shop!) and bought a gel seat pad for €49 which is fantastic! Did nearly 600 miles on way back in 1 go and barely got a numb bum towards the end on the m4 and I think that was probably left over from trip over lol

The bike performed flawlessly, great power - good luggage accommodation and great handling.

Downsides - seat and TANK RANGE! I got sick of filling the bloody thing up! ESP as had a tank bag... When on autobahns used up entire tank in around 110 miles :/

Bike all clean now as was filthy when got back - will def do it again, just wish was a way to get a bigger tank

  Break or Sell?
Posted by: Andy Clap - 26-07-13, 04:34 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

So, three months ago I bought a 30k mile 2002 Foxeye on a whim.  I was going to strip the good bits and put them on my 17k miler, then polish it (the new one) and sell it.
But the "stainless" pipes are more rusty than I'd like on mine, the double-bubble is more scratched, not bothered about braided hoses, do I really need a wavy rear disk...
So, all in with buying it, HPI check (all clear), cashing in the road tax, and second hand rear shock it stands me at about £970.

The MOT has now expired (only problem I can see is non-functioning right indicators).  To get it over to the MOT centre is going to cost me for a van (too law abiding to risk it with no insurance).

Do I try and get £970 with no MOT, or would I get anywhere near that breaking it for spares (which would be a shame as it's basically a nice bike)?

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a luggage rack for my boxeye. I had a chance at one for a great price, but lossed out due to a spell in hospital. Required for euro trip in 6 weeks. Let me know if you have one.

Thanks

I've owned this about 2 years it started life as a box standard red FZS 600.
As you can see from the picture I've done a lot of work on it.
ALL the work was done by myself.
The bike is use daily for work including winter.
So the bike was never taken off the road for the work to be carried out.
