  Oil Seal behind front sprocket?
Posted by: martin8180 - 26-07-13, 01:38 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Any one know if there is an oil seal behind the front sprocket on a 1998 FZS 600?
The reason for asking is. I have been getting some noise from this area. (Checked the lock washer and nut, no movement.)
It sounds nothing like the tappet noise.
So I investigated and could not find any thing wrong under the sprocket engine casing.
However I did find what looked like 1/2 and oil seal about the same size as a crank shaft seal,
Along with loads of small stones and thick grease from the chain.
I have no idea where the oil seal bit came from.
I have checked the manual and the "AS Sutton" web site which gives you the diagrams and part to the FZS 600.
The noise is still there.
The only way I can explain the noise is like a metronome noise it happens mainly when I am cornering left or right.
But has also made a noise when moving through the gears at low revs, as I'm increasing the load to the engine.
The noise stays at the same tempo though no matter what speed the engine is going at.
I would have suspected the big ends but for the fact that the tempo never changes.
And its still there when I corner without any load to the engine.
The engine has just done 26k

  The finished rebuild!
Posted by: Thorn - 26-07-13, 01:26 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Well it's been a long rebuild with almost every part of the bike being replaced, from knackered calipers to shot fork seals and even a new cylinder head, but I thought I'd throw up a before and after photo. Originally I was going to do a project thread as I took photos throughout, but typing up six months of history seems a bit tedious!

Anyway  Big Grin

Future plans are a full respray of the bike in gloss black, tarted up with blue highlights, unfortunately funds do not allow it right now  Sad

Can you copy and post so we know who is going from where?. Ill start the ball rolling....

Here's an idea to think about?????
Posted by: dickturpin - 25-07-13, 08:50 PM - Forum: General - Replies (86)

How about a game of pass the parcel? Just an idea that may gain some momentum if anyone is interested....how about we make a mascot and pass it round the country? Rule would be you collect from one foccer and pass to another foccer, that way we meet a few fellow foccers....no timescale necessary so we can deliver on good days to avoid the rain!
Maybe some clever foccer can track it on a map?

Anyone interested on developing the idea.....we could even ad some pics as the mascot travels around?

A little help please!

I am doing a home study course and have been given an assignment in Word format. It involves lots and lots of diagrams that i have to draw on it (circuit diagrams, symbols, plans etc) so I printed it out so I could work it all out with a pencil. Now i need to get this completed work on my computer to email it back for marking. FAAAAR too many pages to scan, and i cant open the file in Paint as it is the wrong format (?).

Ideas? :rolleyes

cheers - Jon
