  CARB REPAIR KITS
Posted by: jock - 13-08-13, 01:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Can anyone tell me if the carbs are the same on the 2002-03 Fox eye (5RT) models as the earlier1998-01?  ie, should the carb repairs be the same?  Ta!

Posted by: reillypadraig - 13-08-13, 09:06 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (53)

Just as an off topic, I just wanted to get a broad opinion on how all of you cope with wearing glasses in your helmet, just on if they bug ya just abit of if ya put the helmet on a little awkward and Ur ear hurts the whole trim, or do you wear contacts especially for this purpose???

I'm asking this because I don't wear contacts and its coming back into the glasses fogging up season again soon :rolleyes

Evening Foccers,

Are these likely to be repairable or am I looking at a new one? If a new one is required, what are everyone's recommendations?

Guys, what method is easiest to get the cover off and get the gear linkage out the way! Unscrew the linkage from both ends and remove that way or one end and footpeg off...................i am sure there is an easy way, the front cover is full of dried in caked on road crap and old chain lub, Sigh!

  Michelin Tyre Recall (not current)
Posted by: nick crisp - 12-08-13, 07:03 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

A few years back in the bike shop I was working in at the time, we got a recall notice regarding a specific model of tyre. Now, it was probably about 4 or 5 years ago, so before you start panicking, you probably don't have this problem now.
However, on arriving home from work today, I just noticed a thin, slightly uneven line running all the way around my rear tyre, a little off-centre. If I run my finger nail across it, I can just feel it. The line is a little darker than all the rest of the tyre surface. On checking the front tyre, I found exactly the same thing. Now, I would probably have dismissed it as nothing but for the memory it jogged of the aforementioned recall for a problem that started with just such an anomaly appearing. I think it was a Michelin tyre that the notice went out on. 70% sure anyway. I also think it was not PR2s, which is what I've got on there now. Again, maybe 70% sure. But what I do remember is that it pointed to a weakness or manufacturing fault in the tyre in question, maybe only certain production batches, again can't be sure of that, but it was of sufficient concern for the manufacturer to issue the recall notice.
Does anyone out there remember such an issue, did it affect you, did you receive a recall on your tyres for this reason? For now, I'm just going to keep a close eye on it, maybe it won't be anything to worry about.

Mineral, Semi Synthetic or Full Synthetic for our machine?
Posted by: Camshaft - 12-08-13, 12:17 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (32)

I have used semi ester Belray 10W40 for my first oil change on my 01 with 57,000kms. The guy I bought it off owned it from 1 year old, told me he used full synthetic all his ownership and tracked it 10 times in the year before he sold it (put the left peg through his calf poor bastard dodging a possum on a wet night).  :'(

Is this a suitable oil for my bike being used as a commuter plus the weekend blast finding the redline a few times?

I'm sure there are plenty here with similar riding week to week  Big Grin

  250 miles from a tank.
Posted by: Lumpy - 12-08-13, 10:50 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (27)

well impressed as the last tankful on my 98 got to 250 miles before I chickened out and refilled it, 64mpg when filled up, with care you can get just over an extra litre in the tank which helps so still had 1/4 litre in there.
