  Possible sale: FZS1000 parts

••• Updates •••
19/8/13: The first post on this thread will be updated with the latest information!

21/8/13: Bike is now sitting at my home address. More detailed pics and information available on request.

03/9/13: Deadline for 3rd party response.

25/2/14:  :eek This has been dragging on too long, so I'm going to do some prodding and see if I can get an answer about the bike.

27/2/14: So I spoke to my solicitors about the whole situation, and once an engineer has assessed the bike for 1) pre accident value and 2) repair cost, that can be sent off to the third party insurers. Once they agree on the figures, my solicitors will send written confirmation, which will free the bike up. At no time will the bike be laid claim by any other party, it's just being held for evidence of cost purposes. So I will be selling parts from it, it's just a matter of time.

I'm hoping that I can get an assessment done by next week, then it's waiting on letters back and forth a couple of times. All being well, the earliest I'll be stripping the bike will be 2 weeks time. The liability has been put forward hence things starting to move along, but I'll go into that in another thread.

••• ^updates^ •••

As soon as I hear about the claim against a third party I'm waiting on, I may be getting my old Fazer back and breaking it to sell for spares. So I'm posting this here to give you guys first choice on any parts that come out of it. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered to my home address from the recovery company, at which time I'll be able to give a more detailed write up of parts available or parts damaged.

What I'll do is write a list here of parts that are damaged or sold/reserved, so if the part you want is not on this list chances are it's available.

Smaller parts can be posted as long as the cost of this is covered, but larger parts will need to be collected or shipped.

PLEASE BE AWARE; I cannot sell any parts of this bike or change it in any way UNTIL liability and insurance is confirmed. They may want to write it off, in which case I may be offered buy back. In fact, this is what I'm hoping for, so I can recoup some costs.

Feel free to pm me with any questions or queries.

List of UNavailable parts:

front wheel:                      broken
downpipes:                      broken

Hi all

Just joined this forum yesterday. Came across it by chance, when looking for front suspension solutions for my Fazer.
My name is Daniel, 35, I'm from Portugal, and my Fazer has been part of the "family" since 2011. I did a longish run in it, in the spring of 2011, about 2500miles, with my wife for 13 days. Started in Portugal (near Lisbon) strait to Marbella. After that we started cruising the cost to Barcelona. After that, strait to Pamplona and then to the north. Really beautiful scenery. We cruised the  north cost, and then back to Portugal. It was a memorable ride Smile . Anyway, my bike history started with a 50cc Yamaha, in Portugal called DT 50 LC. Staid with my for four years. After that XTZ 750 SUper Ténéré came along, then a Honda Hornet (CB600F), after that a Honda CBR 600RR, after that a Suzuki SV 1000N. Sold that bike and was without a ride for about 2 years until I could any more and got a Fazer. That's about it.

Cheers,

  Bike Storage in europe
Posted by: chr999chr - 19-08-13, 04:22 PM - Forum: General - Replies (16)

Looking at options to store my bike in central Europe. It would be nice to just jump on a cheap flight and be in the middle of Europe for a tour or even just a weekend blast.

1: If i store my bike i can still tax and insure it but what about the uk MOT?
2: If i register the bike in say Czech republic will it get complicated with a UK address
3: Is there any country that does not have a mot?
4: Anyone successfully got around these issues?

Hi everyone.

Im Matt, Englishman living in Belgium.

Just got rid of my K1300R and bought a 2009 FZ1S as my neck and back wont let me ride anything with a 'low' steering.

Bit dissapointed with the power delivery, doesnt seem to do anything under 7k rpm but its way more comfy than the K was, I have the comfort seat which helps.

No real plans to do anything with it except Ive fitted a larger rear sprocket to help liven it up a bit and crash protection throughout. Bungs, casing sliders, swingarm bung, Bar ends etc...

Im sure I'll get to know you over time with dumb ass questions and sarcastic answers [Image: wink.gif]

  Fazer 600 2001 on a Y plate for sale
Posted by: john chandler - 19-08-13, 02:08 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Hi all,
I have a FZS 600 Fazer for sale.
First registered 16.03.2001
Had two registered keepers
Its done 9100 km (5600 miles ) . It is a UK bike I believe but has euro clocks.
It is in very good condition apart from the usual bit of corrosion on some bits of the alloy and on the engine casings. Good tyres, brakes, chain and sprockets etc. Has datatag fitted.
Goes, handles and stops just as you would expect from a bike with so few miles.
I'm looking for around £1800 but might take a bit less for a quick sale.
I am based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
For more info and/or pics please email me on jc@anodeelectronics.co.uk

thanks. John Smile

  Front Wheel bearings
Posted by: andybesy - 19-08-13, 02:03 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hello Folks,

I have a knocking sound from the front of the bike.

Not a rhythmic sound in time with engine or wheel as discussed in other recent threads.

It's just occasional when I change speed or direction, or get on or off the throttle.

Sounds like it might be time to have my wheel bearings checked out? Am I on right track? Or maybe steering head bearings I guess.

I'm just about to speak with local dealership, any suggestions roughly what sort of price range should I be looking at for parts and labour?

Thanks, Andy

  New Brake Discs
Posted by: Tefer - 19-08-13, 01:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Well looks like my FZS600 needs new discs, looks very worn in some parts. I had wanted to change for OEM but they are £197 each  :eek

My mate has EBC and says they are good but not great, anyone have any other manufacturers that they are happy with? If i can't see anything else it looks like it will be EBC.

Has anyone used these? Ferodo are a good make i thought? Can get them for about £107 a disc but i can't seem to find any reviews.

Fazer not running properly after cam chain change
Posted by: HazzaBui - 18-08-13, 08:23 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi Guys, another question from me I'm afraid :/

So I got my old cam chain swapped out for a new split link one, and everything back together, and the bike runs!
Problem is, it doesn't run very well  Sad  It just doesn't accelerate properly, and barely pulls at all in anything other than 1st-3rd.

Obviously to get the new chain in, I had the carbs off to get the tensioner out, so I'm wondering if maybe I've done something wrong when I've re attached the carbs?  All the cylinders seem to be firing, the sparks are pretty much new and the leads are fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to check next, what might be a likely cause or just general comments? Or am I better at this stage to just take the thing down the local garage and have a professional look at it?

Thanks for any info people can throw my way! Smile

Harry
