  Carb to head rubbers
Posted by: jason1 - 28-08-13, 08:44 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hi all , need some rubber advice  :eek  . Mine are cracked and wondering if there are easy signs to show there leaking ? My fazer does use a lot of fuel , even just cruising = 120 to tank . I have sprayed rubbers with wd40 when engine is running and cant see any bubbles but you can see movement in the cracks from engine vibs .
Also how easy are they to replace ? is there any probs foccers have come across ?
Any info will be great  Wink

Hoping to get back in the saddle soon

I've been off my bike since mid July due to some shoulder surgery (Sub acromial decompression, 2nd one I've had done, had the other shoulder last year but I didn't have a bike then).

Been starting the bike once a fortnight, checked the tyre pressures, chain tension and lube today.  Main problem I had wasn't my post op shoulder, but the post drop wrist injury from back in April when I nearly dropped the bike after a tight slow turn just after my first fill up of petrol.  Been a bit sore ever since despite the lotions and potions from the local doc.

Anyway, looking forward to getting out on the bike again, probably next week when my bro is visiting, as a fellow biker he can come help me if my shoulder falls apart on me whilst I'm out on the bike Wink

I thought I missed biking before I bought this bike, I miss it more now I'm more aware of what I'm missing...

  Faulty alarm?!
Posted by: nick crisp - 27-08-13, 11:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Had a good return today. An Oxford Screamer alarmed disc lock turned up. Now, they have a pretty thick metal plate, all the electronic gubbins are mounted between this and the plastic covers. Well, this one arrived with the plate bit bent in the middle - must've taken a hell of a force to do it. So we're all thinking, yeah, he's tried to ride off forgetting the disc lock was on, you could see a mark where maybe it'd hit the front mudguard or something too.
The note from the returning dealer said...?
"Faulty alarm"......................
Go figure!

  Flat Spot
Posted by: Dcock - 27-08-13, 10:53 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Right so after blasting it half way back from poole bike night tonight my 1998 fzs600 developed a problem. As i was trying to blast it past my mates fz1 my bike lost power and now will not rev past 7k unless i hold the throttle back for a good 5 seconds and then finally revs past it but with very little power. It feels liek a very bad flat spot. Also it seems to happen lower down the rev range if i'm in the lower gears. I feels as if it looses power at the point when the engine used to start pulling hard. I'm wondering whether it's running lean as i had the fan come on for the first time today also the carb rubbers are cracked, but i sprayed wd40 on them and the idle did not change.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dan.

  Removing the throttle.
Posted by: noggythenog - 27-08-13, 09:40 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (19)

Anyone know how to remove the throttle twist grip???

I'll soon be getting some Renthal ultra low bars & I've been perusing the Haynes manual to get an idea how to get all the stuff off.But there's no mention of removing the throttle anywhere.

A search of the old forum finds Kebab explaining to someone about some lugs on the throttle or switch gear that need to  be filed down so that everything fits on the new bars so i reckon these lugs probably make it difficult to remove all the stuff from the old handlebars.& are the throttles generally well stuck on???

Stevie has been giving me some advice about the Renthals as he had them before, hey Stevie if you read this, have you any more wisdom on the subject?, i felt cheeky mythering you directly, or anyone else recently Renthalised???
