Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - ltcorwin - 28-08-13 I've been off my bike since mid July due to some shoulder surgery (Sub acromial decompression, 2nd one I've had done, had the other shoulder last year but I didn't have a bike then). Been starting the bike once a fortnight, checked the tyre pressures, chain tension and lube today. Main problem I had wasn't my post op shoulder, but the post drop wrist injury from back in April when I nearly dropped the bike after a tight slow turn just after my first fill up of petrol. Been a bit sore ever since despite the lotions and potions from the local doc. Anyway, looking forward to getting out on the bike again, probably next week when my bro is visiting, as a fellow biker he can come help me if my shoulder falls apart on me whilst I'm out on the bike ![]() I thought I missed biking before I bought this bike, I miss it more now I'm more aware of what I'm missing... LTC Re: Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - Dead Eye - 28-08-13 I've been out of the saddle for nearly 4 weeks now and I'm already beginning to go a bit (more) crazy not being able to get out on it ![]() Hope you enjoy your ride next week ^^ Re: Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - Fazerider - 28-08-13 A pinched nerve in my right shoulder has kept me off the bike for a fortnight so far and there's not much sign of it improving anytime soon. At least I can manage the car OK, but begrudge every mile when I should be on two wheels. What I miss even more than the bike though, is a good night's sleep. :'( Hope your recovery (and yours, DeadEye!) is soon complete. Re: Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - Dead Eye - 28-08-13 Thankfully I'm mostly healed up now, can't do anything intensive (which has ruined my exercise plans - weight lifting) At least I can get out in the garage now and work - bike is almost ready ![]() Re: Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - JZS 600 - 28-08-13 I came off 2 years ago and fractured my hip (it was a hair line fracture), took me 2 weeks to be able to swing my leg over a bike,,, Re: Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - ltcorwin - 06-09-13 Well I went out on the bike last night, a little bimble round Southmead and up to Cribbs and back in Bristol. Nothing faster than 50, but it felt good to be back in the saddle. My bro got a shot on it too, he likes the bike, and just like my Dad, he told me the reason I'm having rough gear changes is all down to me, he says the gearbox is the best he's ever ridden. D'oh! My bro also opened the taps a little on the M5 to check the bhike out after the 8 week lay up. Nice of him wasn't it? ![]() So asuming my shoulder continues to take it, back to my evening and weekend riding, yay! Thanks for all the support guys LTC Re: Hoping to get back in the saddle soon - Lazarus - 06-09-13 got the same thing done last march m8 (Sub Acromial Decompression) and they also decided to clean up the AC joint on the shoulder (2 ops at once) 6 weeks before I got back on the bike for a short blast. suffered pain in the shoulder for 8 years - should have had the op sooner. |
