guys,
brains fried from travelling.
Whats the easiest way of removing the rear wheel of a FZS600 (2003 Foxeye)
do I undo the nut on the LHS of the wheel (on the side of the chain and lift the wheel out of the brake or is it absolutely necessary to remove the brakes too?

I posted a query a few weeks ago with regards to my gen 1 hanging on the revs after throttle was closed. This occurred after fitting a full monty kit. Riding further up the rev range proved to be a much improved result, however, this 'lean' situation with revs 'hanging' was hugely irritating. I knew immediately that the problem was down to the pilot circuit running lean but have only just got round to sorting it.
Whilst drilling the pilot air holes a fine swarf found its way into the circuit and partially blocked up on 2 of the carbs.
The solution this evening was of course to 're remove the carbs and drop all of the pilot screws completely out and clear the circuits with carb cleaner. Bike now sweet!!
The main point of course here is to pass this info on because as far as I can remember there is no mention of removing the pilot screws to effectively clear the circuits before setting mixtures. I believe most guidelines just tell you to set the mixture screws up and then undertake all of the other operations and then refit the carbs.
Anyway, I hope this 'heads up' saves other budding enthusiasts wasted time on a second removal of the carb bank!!
Cheers.

I've been a muppet and knackered my chain. Went to Holland last Thursday and forgot to take chain lube. Thought it would be ok anyway (usually I lube every 200-250 miles) but getting towards 1000 miles it started making some pretty horrendous noises. Not just clunking but intermittently screeching like there's a stone jammed in there or something.
So I've lubed it heaps since I got back and it has improved a lot but still sounds crap at low speed, clunking and occasionally squealing.
I can't see any tight links and the links don't seem too stiff but the rear wheel doesn't spin as freely as it did.
So I've ordered a Loobman manual luber. Probably should have done it a while ago, since I ride through winter.
Regarding a new chain - M&P on Ebay have standard DID + sprockets for £80 or gold for £87.
Does that sound reasonable? Is the gold chain actually any better or does it just look prettier at first?

| Can I borrow a set of carb balancing gauges - Jerking at 3k revs |

My fazer has started to jerk at 3k revs and stutter, it sounds very much to me like the pistons aren't firing quite in order, so I'm suspecting the carbs need balancing.
Never done it before, and I don't have a set of gauges to balance them, and to top it off I was made redundant not too long ago so money is a serious issue right now. Don't suppose anyone in or around the Manchester area has a set I could use??

110mph wheelie biker is spared jail 6:13pm Friday 30th August 2013 in News
ROAD safety leaders have condemned the actions of a motorcyclist who performed a wheelie at 110mph as irresponsible and extremely dangerous after he was today spared jail.
Michael John Chester, 42, overtook a car on his Suzuki GSXR while doing a wheelie, and then as he struggled to bring the bike back under control as he returned to two wheels on the A63 in North Yorkshire.
At a sentencing hearing at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court, chairman of the bench Jo Senior told Mr Chester he had come very close to going to prison – but instead he was issued a 12 week prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
He was also banned from driving for 20 months and issued a £165 fine.
The latest figures show that 11 motorcyclists have been killed already this year – more than double the number during the whole of last year when five people died.
Road safety leader at North Yorkshire County Council Honor Byford said Mr Chester did not represent the majority of responsible motorcyclists in the region’s roads but condemned his behaviour as “extremely dangerous stunt riding.”
She said: “This kind of showing off and speed riding is not acceptable on public roads – if people want to do that they should book a track day.”

ive read somewhere you can put a 1000 gen1 rear caliper on the 600 (boxeye/foxeye). ive managed to get hold of one.
now i sort of remember someone saying it needs to be filed down a touch so it fit. anyone done this mod on here? if so what exactly do you have to do?
ive not got the bike to hand at the mo to compare or see what i might have to do.
any help would be great.
thanks
