All, here is an odd one for you.. I went out for a ride yesterday and when I got home put the bike in the garage as usual. Turned engine off and went in the house. This morning I go into the garage and see the green neutral light on??!! First make sure I hadn't left the keys in it by mistake... No Keys in sight. I think well maybe I had not fully turned off when key was taken out. go and get keys. Turn on, still light, turn off still light. move round to lock the bars and still light on!!
whilst in the steering is locked I press starter and I get a lumpy starter motor noise (no surprise as battery flat)
The only way I could get the light to go out was disconnect battery. stuck it on charge and did what I needed to do in the garage.
Anyway getting back to the bike I then put the leads back on and no neutral light.. put keys in on position and on ok. now keys in off position and now off. (also bike starts ok and stops ok on the key)
A little confused and tbh a little worried about leaving the bike anywhere if it does it again.
My thinking is that I MUST have turned off or the engine would have probably kept running when taking the keys out?!
51 plate thou by he way.
thanks,
Fuz

After a fairly long ride I noticed a small flat spot and some jerking and shuddering around 4k.
I went for a wee spin today and the jerking and shuddering is more pronounced and starts from around 3k and carries on till about 7k.
My fazer had this problem in the past which cleared up after the carbs were cleaned.
Any ideas why the jerking and shuddering has came back?

Oh well, it had to happen eventually I suppose.
I was coming up Detling Hill (A249) yesterday, in the slow lane, had just come over top of hill doing between 40 and 50, following traffic, national speed limit sign about 200 yards away so looking to move into fast lane to get moving, my lane still moving, checking mirrors, nice gap, life saver, all ok, move out.....FECK, the outside lane has just anchored up to a complete stop, all swerve test stuff goes out the window, grab front brake, lock up, smash into the back of a BMW.
Barrel roll over the handle bars into the still moving slow lane, lady in car is amazing and avoids me. Pick myself straight back up. Bike a total mess on the front, it MUST be a write off.
I was walking ok, right leg ached a bit and left foot ached.
I've bust 3 metatarsals in my left foot, but other than that just bruising on my right leg and left hip. Thank god the lady in the car missed me. I'm lucky!
The guys in front of the car I hit said they have no idea why everyone anchored up and they were surprised that they had missed the cars in front of them, it was just me that was unlucky.
Now I suppose the fun of how much the insurance will offer for my bike begins.
The only negative thing I would say, I'm with Bennets, they arranged recovery of the bike. At 5.30 got a text saying recovery at 1807, sweet! 1820 a phone call to say they are stuck in traffic but on way, eta another hour, couldn't tell me where the were though.
1930 the police who dealt with the accident were passing and stopped again, couldn't believe we were still there. They phoned the recovery people for me and had a big moan because we were in a potentially dangerous place, 25 mins later a tow truck arrived! time, 2010. And the best bit, the tow company....ON TIME LOL
This does of course solve the dilemma I had of do I replace the down pipes and pay for a big service, along with replace a few other bits that were getting worn, or sell it for probably not a lot and buy a newer one....decision made! LOL
Thank god I'm ok though, that's the main thing.

My fork seals are fine but the dust seals are cracking and rusting and falling apart.
I've had the new seals for a while but haven't gotten around to fitting them.
Any tips? Haynes doesn't really cover this.
