f***ing exup valve
Posted by: bluethou - 22-11-13, 05:56 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

Exup valve working fine, removed it for routine maintenance put it all back together again with a little copperease and wallop the bloody thing wont move jammed solid so rinse and repeat same story the valve seems to work fine right up until I tighten the bolts it'll turn then stick as if its bent or off centre somehow.
I've checked all the positions of the bushes, I laid them in order as I removed them cleaned them all with a little emery cloth and some brake cleaner, then a dousing with the old WD40, another wipe then a little copperease and back in, cant see what I've done wrong?????? :'( :wall

stupid design. What's wrong with a single flap in the link pipe??
has anyone thought of butchering an FZ1 link pipe and fusing it onto a 4-1 after market job??

  Advice on a horn!
Posted by: Noj - 22-11-13, 04:34 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Before any whit! I'm not referring to male impotence. :rolleyes
Having read many of the other post, I'm dreading to see the response that I may get from posting this.

I'm looking for a replacement horn for an FZ1 second-generation. I'm after the loudest humanly possible second to pay fog horn! :lol

Does anybody have any suggestions, guidance or links that may be of use?

  Optimate Charger. Any good?
Posted by: Frosties - 22-11-13, 02:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

Hiya fellas,

As per title, are these any good & a worthwhile investment.

The last few days running up to London & back with the Tiger, I've noticed it getting that little bit slower to turn over each start - to work and from work.

I always run with the headlights on (dual H4's) and have also been using the heated grips each way. Now the battery is about 14 months old & it's charging at 14Vdc so alternator all good.  The battery is made by GS and is a CB14L-A2 (short notice buy from local KTM dealer) which meets my CCA of 140A.

Question is - is it time for a new battery or should I be plugging into an Optimate or equivalent every night.

Don't want to buy a new battery @ £50 odd when I can get the below for less money. Orrrrrrrr did I just buy a cheap shite battery instead of a Yuasa?

Any advice as always is much appreciated

  Coolant Replacement
Posted by: Andy Clap - 21-11-13, 08:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

Going to replace the coolant this weekend.

Is it pretty easy, or are there any gottchas to look out for?

Is the FZS600 prone to air locks?

Cheers,
Andy

  Wooden Suspension
Posted by: NorthWestern - 21-11-13, 08:27 PM - Forum: General - Replies (32)

Offered up the frontend to a bike I am building for my daughters 2nd xmas!  Its a TZ750 Balance Bike made of wood (predominantly self-laminated ply).  Forks are made from broom handles, an Ohlins one naturally....

Just got the handle bars to make (these will be alloy), seat (from foam) and the number plates which will either by more ply or I might laminate some Carbon Fibre ones, its been a while since I have done any CF and I think I will be making some fairing panels for the Fazer soon so this should blow off some cobwebs.

Paint went on quite well!  Forks/Triple clamps will be silver.

Can anyone recommend a quick release tank bag system about the same size as a Baglux Alpha, and are there any draw backs to them ?
