  MT-09 Test
Posted by: St.eve - 23-11-13, 08:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

Hi everyone
My local bike shop was kind enough to loan me a new Yamaha MT-09 for 2 hours today! Here is my verdict:
It's blisteringly fast and very agile! I mean, the acceleration is stunning; I had trouble keeping front end down. It reminded me of a trials bike. It was quite jerky but great fun. Would I swap my Fazer for it? No way, I got back on my Fazer after my 2 hour test drive on the MT-09 and it was so much smoother and much more comfortable. The MT-09 is a fun bike and I enjoyed my test drive, however its not for me, this is just my personal opinion.
Thanks

For anyone going, take both parts of your license!

I didn't, and it meant I couldn't have a test ride on anything when I was offered  :o

  Dont know what to do???
Posted by: Bigfellabuck - 23-11-13, 01:41 PM - Forum: General - Replies (25)

Hi All, I'm in a right kerfuffle, I bought my Fazer in February and love it to bits and as in a previous thread I said I wanted summat higher ( TDM , Versys etc ) and |I've had phone calls from 2 dealers with bikes better suited to my long legs but they're not giving me what I think the bike is worth, I'm really reluctant to put an advert up as I'm not good at this kinda thing and I'm a bit of a push over when haggling . I really don't know what to do for best as I spent about £ 400 or so since buying it after the initial £1600 for the bike and all I'm getting offered is a grand part/ex. Think I f*****k up in the first place or what????

Cheers guys  Buck

Dropped my bike (Putting her on the stand), need parts advice
Posted by: ltcorwin - 22-11-13, 07:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

I was in the garage, putting it up on the centre stand after a wash, and when righting it to go on the centre stand, I righted her too far and she went over.  Crashed into some metal shelves, top box scraped the wall, jammed the shelf upright between the brake lever and the right handlebar.  Couldn't budge her.

A swift call to my mate a fellow FZS600 rider to come and helpme lift her and the damage became apparent.

Right mirror sheared off.
Crack on the windscreen starting at the top and extending for a few inches down.
Possible additional scraping to the RHS fairing (there was some already)
Definite scraping to the GIVI top box
Possible further damage to the existing crack in the fairing near the mirror mount on the RHS.

Possible slight cosmetic damage, the engine bars never came into play, the shelf jam and the top box kept the pegs and exhaust off the ground, indicator never touched anything.  all the electrics  work and the brakes actuate fine.

Thankfully I'm ok, and all the bike needs is a new RHS mirror (Vicma OEM one already ordered from WeMoto, about £23 inc shipping) and I need to decide whether or not to get a new screen.  I would like to.

I have the original screen, which is fine for me, I'm obviously the right shape for it.  WeMoto make them to order:

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fzs_6..._standard/

I'm just not sure whether to get one of theirs or pick up a second hand one off Ebay

Another thing, the original screen is not clear, obviously.  WeMoto do 4 colours, clear, light tint, dark tint and solid black.  I don't think clear is the way to go, I'd rather not have black, so I'm wondering if anyone knows which is clearer to the original colouring, light or dark tint.

But any advice on where to get a replacement screen would be appreciated, and tips on getting a decent match to the colour of the original.

The main thing is I'm annoyed at myself for it happening, but as my dad and bro said, "bikes get dropped, it's how gravity works" Smile

Thanks

Side note:

At least she's starting okay now(My problem last week) , the problem seems to have been me not giving her enough choke in the cold weather.  My Dad's idiot instructions were "Full Choke, no throttle, press the button till she starts.  Honda started doing it that way in the 70s and it's only gotten better since"
