R6 seat and tail mod
Posted by: StreetFzr - 17-09-21, 06:08 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

So as a possible winter project I want to look at fitting an r6 seat and tail, to add to the street fighter style of my fzs. Anyone got any advice on the job as I can’t seem to find anything searching the forum (I am admittedly on my phone)
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks!

  Rear disc warped
Posted by: teecee90 - 17-09-21, 05:23 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

Bike went for MOT today. Passed but with one advisory - fluctuating rear brake. Tester suggested most likely a warped disc. Front and rear discs were replaced just 19 months ago for a full set of Brembo Serie Oro and have only covered 4,100 miles.

I've checked the rear disc with a dial gauge and it is indeed slightly warped. Very disappointed as these are meant to be a good quality product and were not cheap.

Just in case anyone else is considering these as replacement discs.

  Intermittent indicator
Posted by: Jamieg285 - 17-09-21, 01:36 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi All,

Just taken my 2003 for it's MOT.  Left rear indicator was working fine on the way there, but wasn't when it was tested (all 3 others were OK). Tester changed the bulb, but it made no difference.  On the way home, failure certificate in pocket, the damn thing starts to work again, and has been all the way home.
I know that there can be electrical problems caused by the large connector up under the left fairing infil, but could that include the rear indicator?  I don't want to waste time opening it up and trying to clean it up if the problem is never going to be there.

Anyone got any words of wisdom?

TIA

Hello all, just a quick hello from a new member!
Passed my full bike test last December and swappped my BMW for a 99 FZS600 which has been partly streetfightered.
Since then I’ve done oil and filter and put a new clutch kit, I’ll be looking to do the r6 tail and seat mod at some point, raise the tail a bit and colour match her properly (previous owner has put white tail and belly pan/air box covers on a red bike ?), amongst the other maintenance she will likely need.
At the minute it’s got a bit of drive chain noise/notchiness which I’m thinking is chain and sprockets as they are quite old and look well worn.
So, plenty to do, and glad I’ve found this place to share and get advice!

  Grabrail delete bungs?
Posted by: CleanChorusFazer - 16-09-21, 12:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi all,

First time poster here.  I did search the forum but couldn't come up with an answer.

I'm looking to remove the grabrail to clean up the back end as I will never carry a pillion.  Are there any aftermarket bungs to fill the holes as a temporary measure before fully committing and fibre glassing/painting.

Thank you ?

What companies are you with. I have 2 bikes to insure but locked in a garage at another address. I've tried Bennetts and I can't get a quote. Who are you with?

  I'm back baby!
Posted by: Danfz6 - 14-09-21, 02:30 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Anyone on here from years back that remembers a plucky young pup who cut around on a blue FZ6 (Beds / Bucks area).

I'm back baby!

Well I'm getting a new bike and wanted to reconnect with the old forum and see if any of you are still around? Of course also looking forward to making new acquaintances as well!

Hope you're all well!

I attach an image of my old bike that may jog some memories.

I will be putting my 2005 metallic red FZS1000 up for sale. I will post photos at some point, its needs a wash first. Posting to see if there is any interest from forum members before I advertise it elsewhere.AIS removed

 • Ivanised
 • R6 shock
 • Delkelvic end can
 • Oxford heated grips
 • Givi top box rack
 • New Pyramid hugger fitted too.
Just had new Conti Road Attack 3 fitted this weekend, brake calipers cleaned and pots greased as I do at every tyre change. Mot until April next year but have no issue at all in putting a new one on for a buyer. Relatively new chain and sprockets at 24k. Exup valve is good and regularly greased. Valve clearances were done at 24k.Used, loved and fettled. 37k miles. Very sad to sell  :'( but I am falling over 3 bikes in the garage, a kayak and fishing gear, so something has to go!

The bike is in Sussex, near Brighton

Advice for removal of scratches on headlamp lens please!
Posted by: Dave48 - 13-09-21, 12:01 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

I have restricted access down a narrow path to get my bike in and out and recently caught the headlamp lens on a rough cast concrete post.
The bike is a Tracer 700 and I assume the lens is made of some type of plastic. Tried polishing out scratches with Farecla polishing com pound but this had little effect as scratches are quite deep. Hopefully this won't be an MOT issue?
Any ideas/suggestions welcome. (I have since "bubblewrapped" offending post).

Hello from Gen 2 FZ1 owner - NE Scotland
Posted by: notsofast - 12-09-21, 07:36 PM - Forum: Introduction - No Replies

Hi Folks - Recently purchased 2006 FZ1.  I always liked the look of the FZ1 and one came up fairly local to me when I was looking for a naked road bike.  It was neglected cosmetically but mechanically seems fine - A day cleaning it up has made it a little more presentable.  Other than cleaning, the only work carried out so far is oil + filter and a new set of plugs which sorted out the extremely poor throttle response just off idle.  A new pair of bar end mirrors and brake / gear change lever rubbers has it working well enough.  The only other attention it is likely to see anytime soon is to strip / grease the suspension linkage and maybe sort out a small ding on the front corner of the tank.

I have been riding bikes since I was a kid getting my first bike on the road (Suzuki TS50ER) in 1985 and have had all manner of bikes since then.  Not too many Yamaha's over the years but I have fond memories of my RD250LC which was a riot.  My favourite has always been the bike I have had at the time. The only other bike presently in the garage is my old GSXR600K1 track bike which I have owned for 10 years.
I had the FZ1 out this afternoon getting the benefit of some of the local road repairs that were done for the benefit of the final stage of the Tour of Britain.  Plenty of others out and about doing likewise - Great fun.
