Hi
I live in the channel Island which has a top speed of 40mph and have a FZS1000.
I am on a trip to Ireland today via France. I did get the bike serviced a month ago.
While I was riding my bike today I had an issue where the bike at 60mph would lose rpm when I opened fully. I had to release a bit to get the higher speed and the most I could achieve today was 87mph.
I also had an issue where the bike would not start when I turned it off in the queue for the boat to Ireland and I had to jump start it with a portable jump start I had.
Does anybody have any ideas what my issue might be?
Thanks Brian

yes foccers after reading all the touring camping exploits lately I suddenly and unexpectedly foung myself with three days off and the barometer was set fair. With no further ado i loaded up the mighty thou and took off in the general direction of America. Wales got in the way so i pitched the tent at llandovery. After plumbing in the kitchen sink i slipped up the A482 to Aberaeron and on to one of my favourite places Newquay for a spot of dolphin watching and some chips. Not a sniff of a dolphin so back the way i came to my palacial tent.270 miles. Next morning after tea and bacon roll at the westend cafe i was off up the 483( the road fazers were made for) up to just past oswestry and on to the A5 to Llangolen and the horseshoe pass.Spot of lunch at the ponderrosa and on to Bala the Dolleguululasdfwhatever its called then Mycin whatever that place is called and the 487 down to Abberystwyth for icecream and on to Aberaeron and the 482 back to Llandovery.245 miles of heaven as long as i dont get a speeding ticket. Woken by rain at 5 am that of course didnt stop so packed up my wet palacial tent and cruised back on the A40 as far as Oxford and down to sunny Bracknell. 697 miles all in and my arse is killing me. The gen 2 is not such a comfy mile muncher.Sorry no pics cos im a luddite and my kids werent there to help.Just to reiterate the A483 is a marvel and if mother Terresa can be a saint the it should be knighted.

Recently my fazer was stolen and someone atempted to hotwire it and failed.
Is it possible to just simply replace the broken cable with a replacement one? Or shall i just not bother and simply say its a write off and get a new bike?
From what ive found out if i just want to replace the lock i have to get a ECU to match the keys.
As the ignition and the steering lock is intact on the one with the damaged cable i think it could simply be changed.
Aditional damages are
Bent front forks which can be straightened
Cracked top yoke
Work needed
New battery
Stiff clutch leaver
New tyres (as usual)

Anyone been reading about or watching the fires that have been going on in Spain? This lot has been going on for nearly a week now. Anyway the lad I sold my old FZ1 to was evacuated from his home and they thought they had lost the lot bike included. Just had a post from him on FB thankfully his home is safe and better still the FZ1 is undamaged Phew close call though. Fires were started by a couple of gobshites for fun. Police have lifted them and knowing the Gaurdia Civil they will be none to gentle on how they handle these wee bastards. Over 100 homes have been lost and the landscape has been devastated.

Hi All,
Last week someone put a call into the police to say something had fallen off our car and damaged their car. Before they called the police they tried to make my wife pull over by driving very dangerously, flashing lights, driving up her boot and generally scaring her and the kids in our car. So being concerned and not knowing what was going on she went to the police to report it and that's when she learnt that they felt something had come off our car and hit theirs.
A police lady gave our car a quick once over and could find nothing obvious
We can find nothing obvious
Where do we stand on this? Apparently the chap is still keen to take this via the insurance. We as yet don't know what he thinks fell off or what damage was done. The police called today to discuss, but my wife hasn't had chance to chat to them as yet.
Any ideas? Surely he has to prove the the item (whatever it was) was off our car??
Cheers guys

Hey just wondering which aftermarket rearsets yoy guys are using for the gen 2? I've seen a couple of these Chinese copy ones online for £100 but I don't like to use that kind of stuff as a rule so I'm looking at some better ones, problem is I don't have a clue what's good and what's not anymore? There are brands that I've never heard of selling for £2-300? Then there's the obvious Giles etc selling for big money.
Is it still a case of you get what you pay for?

Hi all,
I've just joined today with the intention of buying an FZS600s, 99-03 model.
I currently ride a 2014 Tiger 800, love it.
I'm getting the Fazer as a second bike for fun, to ride through the winter (ACF50'd obviously) and also the missus wants to learn to ride so she might ride it after her training is done. I have a feeling it's gonna be a bike that'll stick with me for years to come.
So I'm hoping to read the forums and get a crash course in what to look for when buying as I'm probably going to pull the trigger on one in the next couple of days.
Looking forward to reading up and getting involved!
Cheers

Good evening all
I am about to become the proud owner of a new pair of boots for my trusty steed , and would appreciate some advice/guidance re which pair to go for, my riding is mostly commuting with the occasional flyer .
looking for rubber with good grip/stability/feed back and a decent life span.
like most of us I have read all the usual gubbins but there is not enough up to date / relevant info available, so thought I would ask the people who know these things.
Hope to hear from someone shortly as I am almost down to the canvass on this pair.
Cheers
Neil
