  Vibration issue
Posted by: phil mcglassup - 16-09-16, 07:31 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

I've just balanced my carbs in order to cure vibrations in the footrests and seat. The carbs needed minor adjustment but this hasn't improved the vibration problem.

The vibrations are only felt over about 3500 rpm, under this it is more or less vibe free. Also during acceleration there are no vibrations throughout the rev range. The large washer has already been fitted behind the exhaust mounting bolt and I've put a soft rubber washer underneath the front tank bolt which has stopped tank vibes.

I used the two jam jars with fluid method to balance the carbs and this was done with the engine at tickover speed. However, whenever the throttle was blipped, to ensure an accurate balance, the fluid levels in the jars changed quickly. Does this mean that at higher revs the carbs are out of balance ? Or is something else wrong, causing the vibes at higher revs ?

Your thoughts would be appreciated Smile

  Speedo Issue
Posted by: old son - 16-09-16, 06:11 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

I changed my oil and filter last night and gave the bike a good clean around the front sprocket area (without taking cover off) and around the side stand area. This morning the speedo would not work. After about 10 minutes it was back to normal.

Could I have pulled a wire or something during my cleaning? If so, where?

Thanks

  Rattle noise
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 15-09-16, 10:02 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (15)

Hey as I'm new to EFI bikes I'm just wondering if this is normal.....
I can hear a weird kind of rattle when I open the throttle? It doesn't matter which gear I'm in or what speed, it only does it when I open the throttle. As soon as I shut it off it goes away?
Is this normal for these bikes?

  Electrical question
Posted by: Jacko - 15-09-16, 10:00 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Hi,
'98 600 boxeye. Running standard single dip headlights. Indicators and brake lights dim headlights.
Meter across battery shows 13v. Engine running it's up to almost 14v. When lights on voltage drops and with brake light it's down to just 12v so not charging much if at all.

Will this be as simple as crappy connections or is there something else to check.

Does FZ1s need a PC if MIVV pipe is fitted?
Posted by: Just Fazered - 15-09-16, 08:40 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a 2008 FZ1s - with the decent half fairing.

My question is this:

If I buy a MIVV pipe, or similar, because bike is fuel injected, will it require a Power Commander?  (I'm guessing yes). But prefer confirmation from those in the know!

If you know, please let me know.  Wink

Cheers.  Smile

  Mirrors
Posted by: Dustydes - 15-09-16, 05:09 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Well after a lot of reading and pondering I ordered the mirrors.

Mirrors from ebay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231893553453?_...EBIDX%3AIT

I had to cut 3mm off the throttle slide and the rolled edge off the grips so I could fit onto the R & G bar ends so as not to spoil look.
Very pleased with result and I can now see without moving my elbows out of the way.
Went with the mirrors with the extra adjusting knuckle.
I have ordered cheap mirror block off plates from china (If no good only a few pounds)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291532049617?_...EBIDX%3AIT

But until they arrive cut out some carbon look vinyl which doesn't look too bad.

  Clutch sticking
Posted by: Grant1Shepherd - 15-09-16, 01:02 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone could help me with my small problem. Basically every so often I'll be going to set off from a red light, or roundabout etc in 1st gear and as I set off the clutch lever seems to be very sticky as I release it, it's almost jumpy as if it's moving, then stops, then moves a little bit more, then stops and then reaches it's normal position, I don't know if this is a problem with the actually clutch or the lever itself as it doesn't seem to do it in an other gear, just 1st, and it doesn't do it all the time, literally just every so often.

Sorry for my poor description :lol hope someone can help

Thanks
