Ecu flashing - Dudeofrude - 27-09-16

I've never owned a fuel injected bike before so all this is new to me.
Firstly do I need a power commander to flash the ecu or can it be done without?
And secondly I've ready yamaha changed the ecu maps on the 2011 and 2015 models. Does anyone know if the re-flash was any good? And is it something yamaha are likely to do for me or should I just take it to the local dyno guy and get him to flash it with something else?
Cheers

If you get the ecu flashed then no need for a power commander.
Doubt very much that Yamaha would do anything for you.
If you get it done by your local dyno guy then he can do a flash that suits your bike exactly.

Re: Ecu flashing - Dudeofrude - 28-09-16

Cheers sloppy. Was hoping that's the case cause I've heard nothing but bad things about them power commanders plus they cost a fortune!
The local guy here has a real good reputation and a 3 month waiting list for dyno time so best get myself booked in haha

Re: Ecu flashing - Dudeofrude - 29-09-16

Well looks like I'm not gonna be getting anywhere fast with this. The local dyno place doesn't flash ecu's and yamaha can do it but the guy said it's really not worth it cause even their newest flash is shit haha
so look like the only route is a power commander

hill top motorcycles do a reflash personally i liked the idea of still being able to change maps
so i sent mine to ivan in usa he flashed it and provided a map for the pc5

this gave me best both worlds

your money lol

At the minute the only engine mod is the akra pipe I have on it. If I do the air filter mod, block off the AIS and smash out the cat, will I notice any difference or will it just make it worse until i get a power commander?

You would be better off talking to someone like Hill Top, to get professional advice. http://hilltopmotorcycles.co.uk/

Flashing the ECU is normally the first step for standard or lightly modified bikes. Normally they will have ECU setting for standard mods like yours.

The rev limit can normally be raised, fueling altered, limits removed in the lower gears, ignition timing altered, activate quick shifter settings (if present), alter the modes (if present), emissions settings altered etc.

Remember, once you start the modding never endsĀ  :eek

Yeah that does worry me haha but to be honest I'm not bothered about more power I'm just wanting to get rid of the snatchy throttle response. I'm sure 130 odd rwhp is more than enough for me haha
