Wanted: Cam cover for FZS1000 in black

Mine has started showing signs of corrosion, so I thought I would see if I could fine a good replacement in black before looking at going to down the route of getting it repainted.

  MT09 Tracer
Posted by: fzsmiffy7 - 08-10-16, 06:52 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

Hi Guys,

So it was back in July that I posted that I'd traded in my beloved Fazer thou Gen 1 for a brand new MT09 Tracer.A lot of people said why didn't I go for the MT10 but there was something about it that I didn't like and as I've always liked triples I thought the Tracer would be worth looking at especially as I'd read a lot of reports that they were really good and were sort of similar to the Fazer in a lot of ways.
I had a test ride and had a lot of fun on the bike and thought that what I'd read was pretty accurate so I took the plunge and bought one.
I ran the bike in as per the manual and had the first service done on time and then set about getting to know the bike properly with no restrictions [apart from the legal speed limits officer], I put a Givi carrier and a fender extender on it for practicality.I had a summer of trips out and about, short and longer and I've now done 2600 miles on her, but as hard as I try to love her I just can't, we're just not gelling,it's a bit like when you see a girl you really like and you go on a first date and have a lot of fun and start going steady only to realise after a few months you don't have that much in common.
So I've decided to admit my mistake and put her up for sale,Manufacturers warranty until July 2018,Datatagged and RAC breakdown cover included, although why you'd need that on a new bike I don't know. I'd like to get around £7400 for it which for a virtually brand new bike is a saving of a grand but I'm willing to haggle a little bit to sell so I can get myself a late well sorted Fazer again.
If I get any interest I can put some photos on although all you have to do is look at pictures of a new one in red and thats what I've got.
I'm on the east coast of Lincolnshire but I'm willing to travel to meet anyone who wants to view it.

Cheers for looking, John

Fitted new clocks, speed seems to be optimistic.
Posted by: Emerald Rider - 08-10-16, 06:39 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

Hi All,

Fitted second hand to my FZ1. I don't know if they came off an FZ1, but every thing works, except the speed is reading over. From my gut feeling I would say 30% over. Any one got any ideas? or know if it can be easily adjusted? Thanks.

  Gen1 Generator
Posted by: old son - 08-10-16, 06:07 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Hi Guys, I have an issue with my 2004 Gen 1. The mulitgauge shows the bike is not charging. The bike broke down in the week and I guessed it was the regulator. I've checked the old one and it appears to check out OK. I had previously changed the connector from the regulator and it now has the upgraded push fit power pole connectors.

My next guess would be a defective generator. I have an old engine in the garage and it has a generator on it so I have spares. What part is likely to be at fault in the generator and how easy is it all to strip and rebuild?

  FZ1 Low Rev Running Issue??
Posted by: Tribal Chestnut - 08-10-16, 05:11 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hopped on the bike the other day to ride home and noticed an issue with the revs dropping a little at low revs, bit of a pain and had to slip the clutch a fair bit fighting my way out of London.

When idling it fluctuates between 1000-1200 or so, was nice and steady before, and up to about 3000 or thereabouts it stutters before taking off as usual at higher revs.

Any ideas? My assumption would be either an intake/exhaust problem or some sort of fuel line blockage, but TBH I haven't a fucking clue.

I won't have a chance to do a thing to it for at least a week, but thankfully picked up my other road bike again yesterday so I'm not completely shagged.

  Throttle Cable free play...
Posted by: anutz - 07-10-16, 10:36 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Have a new push and pull throttle cable installed...

And trying to understand the concept of the free play...

The manual shows it as the movement before the throttle opens, but is this from its resting position after it has snapped back or the difference between if i tried to push it forward as much as possible then wind it on to open it, as if thats the case i have massive free play, but if its the first one i think its in spec

mounting devices on your fazer- whats your solution
Posted by: oberonspacefruit - 07-10-16, 02:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Ive got a heated grip controller, and a usb socket i need to mount.
I dont like the handlebar mounted brackets, as i think it looks cluttered and its more open to the elements
im thinking about making a plate to house them, that looks like it might have been put on in the factory, as part of the dash, like somthing that may have been designed to display a temp-oil pressure guage or similar.
Has anyone come up with a good looking solution for this to save me reinventing the wheel?
at the moment im thinking of  a brushed alloy plate near the speedo, but the gold colour may be hard to reproduce..... :rolleyes
whats your solution?
