Throttle Cable free play... - anutz - 07-10-16 Have a new push and pull throttle cable installed... And trying to understand the concept of the free play... The manual shows it as the movement before the throttle opens, but is this from its resting position after it has snapped back or the difference between if i tried to push it forward as much as possible then wind it on to open it, as if thats the case i have massive free play, but if its the first one i think its in spec Re: Throttle Cable free play... - slappy - 08-10-16 I have always assumed it is from the restingĀ position, and if it is snapping back ok to the resting position then both cables are adjusted correctly. Re: Throttle Cable free play... - stevierst - 08-10-16 Yep, just as slappy said, it's from the rest position. It's not just the opening of the carbs that's starting the movement, there's taking up any slack, then cable outer movement, as it tries to straighten itself out, plus a few more tiny bits of slack here there and everywhere built in to avoid the jamming of the throttle. I sort out as much slack as I can get away with at the carbs end, tweak it with the mid cable adjuster, them fine tune it with the engine running. Just about gets it spot on.
