  running lumpy
Posted by: darrenc - 21-01-17, 03:52 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (55)

Hey foccers, need a little advice, started the bike and its running lumpy as shit (sounds like its only running on 3 cylinders) once warmed up it runs OK and sounds OK. However only 3 of the four header pipes seem to be getting hot. The one on the right in the picture doesn't get anywhere near as hot. Would a new set of plugs sort this?

  Severely split pipe
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 21-01-17, 12:49 PM - Forum: General - Replies (30)

As some of you may know I have been having trouble with a burning smell on my bike. I was getting quite worried as I was thinking something was burning up BUT after another soggy ride this morning I was wiping her down and found staines on my link pipe.
After closer inspection I've found a more or less completely shredded pipe. I'm assuming it's some kind of breather pipe as it runs down behind the brake pedal and doesn't have an end on it?
As you can see by the pics I've got it is an absolute mess? Looks like wolverines been at it haha
The troubling thing now is A. Why is it spewing so much stuff out? Seems to be like white lardy looking stuff
And B. How hard is it going to be to replace ??

  High beam switch
Posted by: darrsi - 19-01-17, 11:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (36)

Last few days i've had an annoying issue of my high beam display light flashing on/off at random intervals.
The left switch is never touched and stays in the low beam position.

Today i cleaned inside left and right switches with Isopropyl Alcohol spray then again with a lube contact cleaner spray, around lunchtime.
After work i turned ignition on and the high beam display stayed on this time.

Ever since i've had this bike, about 8yrs, whenever i've used high beam for a little while it literally kills my battery! Never known why but as i don't really use it it's not been an issue since, but yesterday morning the new battery barely had any power in it so had to get a jump start, due to the high beam going on and off.
So just using my new spotlights i went to work and the battery was all good again by the time i'd got there and has been since.

Firstly, anyone got any ideas why high beam would kill my battery? Even after a motorway run, if high beam was on, i'd switch off then the battery would be dead.
But a bump start would revive it, then once the high beam was switched off and i ran the bike for another 10-15mins it would all be okay again, and start fine on the button.

Secondly, i'm gonna take a chance with a used left switch housing, but just noticed after paying that it has no choke lever.
Is this just a simple swap over from my old one, or is it not that straightforward?

  Swap a fzs600 for fzs1000?
Posted by: Jbizzle - 19-01-17, 05:09 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi all,

Would there be any interest in swapping my 2003 FZS600 for a 1000?  The difference in price could be made up in cash.

My bike is mint, 17,000 miles on it.  Road pilots front and back went on about 500/1000 miles ago. Front pads are new, braided front lines. pretty much fully stock except for the end can.

It was really just to gauge if there was any interest, if someone is looking to downsize maybe?

Cheers,

James

  Front Sprocket Nut
Posted by: darrenc - 19-01-17, 04:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

Ok i know this topic has probably been done to death by now but mine is more of an "in your opinion" kind of question. So heres the situation, my 2003 Fazer has the 9mm old style nut on, however upon checking this there is no play what so ever and it seems tighter than a ducks arse. Me being a paranoid son of a bitch and now having to totally rely on my bike for commuting have ordered the uprated 12mm nut and lock washer. My question is should i leave the 9mm one on until such time it is causing issues or should i replace it straight away?

I have read many a horror story about the 9mm nut but also some about the 12mm one also coming astray??  Any advice or info from you seasoned foccers would be much appreciated
