  Scottoiler reservoir position
Posted by: Pal - 16-05-23, 09:54 AM - Forum: Fazer 8 / FZ8 - Replies (1)

Want to fit a Scottoiler to my Fazer 8, but the space under the rear seat looks a bit limited for the reservoir.

Where has everyone else put theirs?

  Carb balance won't go
Posted by: Kenny Dave - 15-05-23, 09:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

I can't balance my carbs. Picture below:

Link if it's too big: https://i.imgur.com/IBs756j.jpg
1-2 is out of balance with 3-4. Anti clockwise on the centre screw should help with that, but it doesn't. I've screwed it right out to where the screw is wobbling as it's lose in the seat. Turning it the other way Makes 1-2 bog and ultimately the engine stall.

I can't get 3-4 to shift at all, they're up at the top of the gauge always. They respond normally to throttle, coming down before easing back up. Choke brings 3-4 down a bit, and 1-2 isn't changed much. They looked roughly equal on the eye test before I put them in, just open on the tickover.

I can't get the tickover down below 2.5, I think I'm right out on the tickover adjuster too.

Any suggestions before I pull the carbs out and have a look to see whats up? Things to look at when I do? Bit of crap stuck under one of the butterflys I see as a maybe, can't think of anything else.

The background: carbs are a different set to what was in a week ago, cleaned. I balanced the old carbs only 3 weeks ago, no issues. I've got new spark plugs in. New carb inlet rubbers. Exhaust headers reseated. New coolant, new oil. Coolant rubbers and rad replaced.

Thanks if you can help, I'm having a bit of a mare over here, it never seems to end.

Mikuni BSR33 rebuild kits - UK suppliers?
Posted by: s25mjohnson - 14-05-23, 11:06 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi

Looking for contact details for UK suppliers of carb kits for the Fazer.  eBay has sets from the USA.
Anyone bought anything in the UK recently. Haven't tried main dealers yet.
Firm called Yambits has a float valve carb kit but not sure if that is all I need and they don't show their phone number.
I'll take any advice -thanks

  Hyperpro spring
Posted by: Ratters - 13-05-23, 10:30 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

I’m considering replacing standard rear shock spring with a Hyperpro, the bikes done 51000 miles and I’m going to be carrying luggage on it too.  The other option is the less favourable but potentially better YSS total rear shock replacement. Anyone out there with these mods can shine a light on?
Also the forks , I’m going to change oil to 15w but is it worth putting in progressive springs too?
Thanks for any help

  SW Motech Pannier/top box racks
Posted by: redviffer - 11-05-23, 01:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

Hi all,
quite a few years back I had the full SW Motech set up on my Gen1,  absolutely superb and quick realease too. Unfortunately I sold it when I sold my 1st Fazer, doh!!!So I was wondering/hoping someone has some SW Motech stuff they wanna sell? The rack is the really important bit for the whole set up, I can adapt the side carriers from almost any other bike, just by welding new mounting arms on, but the rack includes 2 of the pannier rack upper mounts, and is very specific to the gen1 Fazer.
Any help would be much appreciated.

PS SW Motech have discontinued the Fazer kit now, hence this post!

  Carb bits?
Posted by: Kenny Dave - 08-05-23, 07:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

Does anybody have a box of carb bits? Picture:

The bit I need is the one in the middle. I've snapped one, one is stuck and snapped, and one is just stuck. The jets have a deeply stupid fully crossed head which snaps very easily.

If I can't get the bits, maybe I need another full set of carbs.

I'm confusing the life out of myself, I have 3 sets of carbs, and they're all different. Most of the needle jets look like the bottom one, which came off a set which I think is for my FZR400. Can't put it in, right? The needle bit at the end looks the same, but it's a different distance from the thread.

Experiences using a 4 degree advance rotor
Posted by: Gaz66 - 03-05-23, 09:52 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Hi Peeps.

Anyone using a 4 degree advance rotor on a 1000?
Just tried one on mine yesterday & the old girl has a tad more grunt in the lower rpm range, but not impressed in general.
It's ruined the buttery smooth bottom end & turned the motor into a jerkomatic below 3,000rpm.
Reckon i'll refit the OEM rotor later, just need to make a new gasket up.
