  Wanted: Adjustable levers for FZ1/FZS
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 11-06-23, 02:20 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

So I have had to return 2 sets of ajustable levers from amazon because the pivot point on the cliutch lever is either to big or not big enough to take the spacer from oem lever.

So does anyone have a set of adjustable levers for the FZ1/FZS series or can recommend where I get some. Budget is below £75, Im not interested in anything that costs significatly more than stock (eg pazzo).

many thanks.

  Rattle when coasting
Posted by: orion kid - 10-06-23, 12:56 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (2)

During the ride home from work this past Tuesday I noticed a rattling noise which only manifests when the clutch is fully disengaged, like when I'm on the brakes and downshifting multiple times before a red light stop. I didn't notice anything on the Tuesday morning ride in. There's nothing when the bike is idling (clutch in or out) or under power. I feel it's coming from the clutch or engine area but it's hard to isolate it as I have to be moving to hear it. Bike is an 08 FZ6 S2 model. I'll get it looked at in the next couple of weeks but thought I's see if you foccers had any ideas what it might be and how serious, as in, should I stop riding until it's sorted?

  Fuel Sensor\sender unit compatibility
Posted by: Sqwim - 08-06-23, 10:08 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi - hoping someone can help.

Have an 2002 FZS 600, recently got back on the road after a (ahem) 9 year hiatus in the garage (kids, family stuff, life etc).  Fixed various issues including new immobilser, rusty tank (thanks to some some interesting electrolysis videos on YouTube!), new fuel hose, added some Redex to the tank and balanced thr carbs... she runs really quite well coinsidering the neglect.

One thing I'm struggling to resolve is that the fuel sensor came to pieces during the project.  Not a big issue, don't really need one as long as I remember a manual check regularly.  However the ornage low fuel light is permanently on which is distracting and, while I could stick some tape over it, a new sensor would be preferable.  Only they're like rocking horse manure and stupidly expensive.

Does anyone know whether the fuel sensor\sender unit from an FZS1000 would be compatible?  They look to be similar and are available at far more reasonable prices!

Thanks in advance
Sqwim

  Farewell!!!
Posted by: howardmoon - 06-06-23, 08:46 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Well, after 16 years of FZS1000 ownership I have just sold the bike due to lack of use and the impending expansion of the ULEZ in London. I will be leaving the forum and wanted to say thanks for all the advice provided over the years in helping me look after the bike and to Mike for installing the Ivan's kit.

Stay safe and rubber side down!!

  Fazer 600 S2 display problem
Posted by: Marc M - 05-06-23, 08:47 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (7)

Hi folks. Looking for some help. My display goes on and off randomly. I still have N light and indicator lights, but no revs or digi display. It goes on and off on its own accord. Even sitting still with ignition on. It doesn’t get worse or better during riding. I’ve checked the connections under the tank and seat, I’ve changed all fuses, I’ve removed and opened the display unit. Even wiggling wires around doesn’t make a difference. All the connections are in good shape, and all the wiring looks in good shape too. When the display is on it all works fine, but then it goes off and on again. I recently replaced the battery and still no joy.
Does anyone have any idea what I can check next? I’m at a real loose end with this. I kinda thought maybe an earth point issue, but I can’t find anywhere where there’s wires attaching to frame for ground.
I’d really appreciate any help or advice.
Many thanks in advance.
Marc.

  Gen 2 Fazer replacement options
Posted by: otley - 05-06-23, 09:10 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

My Gen 2 Fazer that I bought new in 2009 was stolen on Friday and I wonder what others have replaced their Fazers with. I had fitted a top box in place of the rear pillion seat pad and the bike suited my needs perfectly.

What current bike has 1000cc, 150HP, around 200kg weight, a centre stand good wind protection, no electronics to fail (ABS, traction etc) and full service manual available online. The Tracer 9 seems a backward step, as do the litre sport tourer offerings from Kawasaki and Suzuki. Any thoughts welcome!

  Insurance claim going to court
Posted by: HarryHornby - 05-06-23, 06:24 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Hi All,  hoping the Foccer font of knowledge can help.  about 3 years ago our car was hit from behind while stationery at lights.  We claimed on our insurance for the damage (just cosmetic) and then later on found out the chap who hit us is denying he hit us.  We don't have dash cam, sadly.  Only proof we have is photos and ones that show 3 distinct marks on our bumper that match in size to the large Mercedes badge on the front of his car.  The photos also have a ruler in the pic showing the distance between the marks.

3 years on, it's going to court.  I'm suspecting that unless he bottles it and admits liability that it will go 50/50?  Don't know how these things work.

My main question is, do we need a solicitor?  Have others been in this boat?  It's the insurance company that are claiming the money back, so it's not our case as such.  We've filled in forms saying what happened and are now awaiting a court date.

Any help gratefully received :-)
