The 2017 Spring Budget (the Fazer-related bits)
Posted by: Fazerider - 08-03-17, 03:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Since it normally never makes the headlines… or even the Chancellor's speech, here are the changes to "road tax" from 1st April as dug out from "Annex A".

Vehicle Excise Duty (401cc to 600cc) up from £60 to £62.
Vehicle Excise Duty (over 600cc) up from £82 to £85.

And, to keep the inflationary theme going, Insurance Premium Tax goes up from 10% to 12%.

  Switching Topbox
Posted by: ben17484 - 08-03-17, 12:04 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Hi All,

I bought my bike with this topbox:

[smg id=2941 type=preview align=center caption="20170304 200421"]

[smg id=2942 type=preview align=center caption="20170304 172037"]

The guy who fitted it also had the size boxes (he kept them), and had to make some bracketry for it all to fit as it wasn't a standard rack for the bike.
I want to keep the topbox, but would like to fit it to the standard brackets as it's much neater. Is that possible, or will I have to get a complete new set of bracket and box?

Cheers,
Ben

Hi All,

Just thought I'd say hello. Passed my big bike test last week and bought a Fazer over the weekend. Absolutely love the bike:

Hi
just got my 2000 Boxeye in black. Unmolested. Low mileage. Going to get to work on trying to improve headlights (double dip mod and maybe relay/uprated wiring mod) first purchase made (Haynes manual) now looking for a rear hugger. I hope to contribute in a helpful newbie way where I can.

  Fork Service
Posted by: Tefer - 07-03-17, 11:18 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (15)

My dust seals have become pretty corroded and split on the forks so i am looking to do a fork service, I want to be sure to get all the parts to do a complete service. As the bike is fairly new to me and i cannot tell when fork oil and seals were changed i am going to do them for peace of mind. Do i need every thing in green in the picture?

I am also going to look at Hyperpro springs. I have seen the threads saying progressive is better all round and then others saying linear is better as its suited to weight but i think the Hyperpro kit will be best for me as i am not exactly Valentino Rossi. I will also have luggage and pillion an times so feel progressive will be best.
